Jensen Huang as King Midas

$NVIDIA(NVDA)$ CEO Jensen Huang has been referred to as “The man with the midas touch”.

There is no distinction between the company and its CEO, they could be used interchangeably and its all the ‘same’.

Although best known for its AI chip leadership, the story runs deeper actually.

This is because NVDA has evolved and become a strategic investor, to a suite of companies, shaping and benefiting from the AI revolution beyond its own core chip business.

US-Listed Investments.

Over time, NVDA has made the effort to branch out and invested in a number of companies.

These companies benefitted from NVDA’s investments and have gone on to list on US stock exchange themselves.

Who Are They ?

$CoreWeave, Inc.(CRWV)$ – AI Cloud Infrastructure.

  • This is perhaps the most well-documented of all NVDA’s investments.

  • NVDA holds about 5 - 6% of CRWV, a cloud platform focused on GPU-based AI workloads.

As of 29 Sep 2025 endday

  • Since CRWV’s March 2025 IPO (priced @$40 per share), it has surged over +206.30% YTD, lifting NVDA’s stake value to nearly $4 billion.

  • Although CRWV has come off from its peak of $183.58 per share, it is still a winner in every sense of the word (see above)

  • With US market on a tear recently, will this be the ‘opportunity’ for CRWV to reclaim its peak ?

$ARM Holdings(ARM)$ – Semiconductor IP.

  • NVDA’s stake in ARM represents a strategic foothold in the semiconductor IP sector, where Arm licenses CPU and SoC designs.

  • Listed on 14 Sep 2023 on Nasdaq, it was 2023's biggest IPO event, priced at $51 per share.

As of 29 Sep 2025 endday

  • Since listing, ARM shares have risen roughly +174.12%, reflecting strong AI-driven demand for Arm’s designs. (see above)

SoundHound AI Inc(SOUN)$ – Conversational AI.

  • NVDA’s early 2017 investment in SOUN, saw the stock triple from below $4 to above $12 by 2024.

  • By February 2025 NVDA has fully exited SOUN (as per 13F filing) and realized an estimated +400% gains.

  • NVDA’s exit was part of the chip maker’s portfolio rebalancing & strategic refocus toward AI infrastructure and cloud computing, rather than voice recognition technology.

As of 29 Sep 2025 endday

  • SOUN has fallen over -50% in early 2025 after NVDA’s exit was made known, a classic example of the volatility surrounding NVDA-backed plays.

  • Despite initial ‘shock’, SOUN has recovered substantially, rising to $15.68 as of end 29 Sep 2025. (see above)

$APPLIED DIGITAL CORP(APLD)$ – AI & HPC Data Centers.

  • NVDA took a stake in Applied Digital around mid to late 2024, with the investment publicly disclosed in 13F regulatory filing at end September 2024.

  • As of 30 Sep 2024, NVDA owned about 7.72 million APLD shares, a 3% stake worth around $63.66 million at that time. This worked out to be about $8.25 per share.

  • APLD specializes in designing, building, and operating advanced digital infrastructure tailored for high-performance computing (HPC) and AI applications — particularly data centers & cloud infrastructure in North America.

  • The company has seen strong growth with a +67% revenue increase YOY in its Q1 fiscal 2025, though it reported a net loss (in profits) as it invests in expansion.

As of 29 Sep 2025 endday

  • As of end August 2025, no divestment has been reported by NVDA. (see above)

  • NVDA’s stake in APLD has definitely grown in value easily by +139.55%.

$NEBIUS(NBIS)$ - AI Cloud infrastructure.

  • In direct jostle (with CRWV) for NVDA’s attention is NBIS, another AI Cloud infrastructure company, listed on Nasdaq on 21 Oct 2024.

  • On 26 Aug 205, I had a detailed post on CRWV vs NBIS (click here ! for details).

  • NVDA owns about 0.5% of NBIS after taking part in NBIS's private funding in December 2024.

  • As of mid-2025, there are no reports of divestment by NVDA.

  • NBIS’s core business is to provide high-performance AI-cloud computing platform for customers (startup or enterprise) that runs intensive AI workload, using their proprietary software & hardware.

As of 29 Sep 2025 endday

  • Back tracing, it could be inferred that NVDA is sitting on yet another pot of gold. (see above)

Private Investments.

Despite above “success” stories, NVDA has remained focus and continued to strategically broaden its investment footprint - backing private companies at the forefront of AI, robotics, & computing infrastructure.

These companies are not yet listed on US stock markets. But are expected to do so in the near future.

Unlisted companies include:

(1) Scale AI.

A private AI data-labeling startup, founded in 2016 by Alexandr Wang and Lucy Guo (world’s youngest self-made female billionaire).

They came into prominence around 2017-18, when AI industry recognized its work in the AI data-labeling space. The rest like they said, is history.

In May 2024, NVDA joined Accel, AMZN & META to invest $1 billion in the company - supporting the company of critical data-preparation backbone, required for training advanced AI models.

One year on in June 2025:

  • META purchased 49% of Scale AI.

  • In addition, META will invest $14.3 billion in Scale AI, that will be overseen by Meta Superintelligence Labs.

  • In return, Alexandr Wang will step down as CEO of Scale AI and work for META.

  • He remains on Scale-AI’s Board of directors.

Scale AI has lost some clients like OpenAI & GOOG following META’s investment.

This arose as questions on Scale AI’s neutrality ability and business outlook surfaces.

In July 2025, it was reported that Scale AI has laid off 14% of its staff, about 200 full-time employees.

(2) Quantinuum (Honeywell’s subsidiary):

NVDA is a notable investor, supporting development of trapped-ion quantum computing alongside AI integration. Click here ! for details, help Repost so more will know ok. Thanks.

(3) PsiQuantum:

A quantum computing startup developing large-scale photonic quantum computers aimed at revolutionizing computing power.

On Wed, 10 Sep 2025, quantum computing startup PsiQuantum said:

  • It has raised $1 billion in its latest Series E funding round, led by investment firms BlackRock, Temasek and Baillie Gifford. (see below)

  • With that, the company is now valued at $7 billion.

  • NVDA was one of the new investors in the Series E funding.

  • At the same time, it is also collaborating with PsiQuantum to speed up development of latter’s quantum computers.

  • This is achieved by working with NVDA to create programs that run quantum computers, helping NVDA’s chips connect to quantum machines and improving the startup’s light-based silicon-photonics chips.

(4) QuEra Computing:

QuEra Computing is a startup company founded around 2018 that focuses on developing advanced “neutral-atom” quantum computers, blending hardware innovation with AI capabilities.

On Wed, 10 Sep 2025 QuEra reported that NVDA’s investment arm NVentures has taken a stake in the company, expanding on QuEra’s Series B’s $230 million funding from February 2025. (see below)

Focuses on neutral-atom quantum computing, blending hardware innovation with AI capabilities; NVDA’s backing signals interest beyond classical AI into emerging quantum tech.

Like PsiQuantum, NVDA did more than invest in the startup, it is “working” with QuEra - pairing QuEra’s scalable neutral‑atom architecture with NVDA’s accelerated‑computing stack to speed the arrival of useful, fault‑tolerant quantum machines.

There are two other AI-startups NVDA has invested in eg. Waabi and Weka.

Due to real estate, they will not be covered in this post.

Did U See ?

Above investments underscore NVDA’s commitment to fueling AI’s future, extending beyond GPUs to data infrastructure, autonomous systems, and AI training ecosystems etc...

Doing so, further ensures NVDA’s chips are being used by these “future” AI players, securing demand and market share for its chips, in the AI race.

Did you also notice that in 2025, most of Nvidia’s startup investments are focused on quantum computing ?

Again, NVDA is not only investing but ‘working’ with these startups on their quantum computing processors and NVDA’s chips - one big happy family.

In short, NVIDIA’s strategy is ecosystem-centric: it is not just the “chip guy” but the architect of an infrastructure and software ecosystem that’s about quantum computing.

Is Jensen Huang, the man with the midas touch ? I believe readers know the answer by now.
