JP Morgan & Citibank Will Rally US Market?
US market continued to rally to a new high, in part fueled by the 2 sets of official data released.
When market closed on Thu, 13 July 2023: (see above)
DJIA: +0.14 (+47.71 to 34,395.14).
S&P 500: +0.85% (+37.88 to 4,510.04).
Nasdaq: +1.58% (+219.61 to 14,138.57). Excelled again.
The 2 sets of official data that help to fuel US market’s rally:
Producer Price Index (PPI).
US Weekly Jobless Claims.
US June 2023’s PPI came in at 0.1%, way below the expected forecast 0.4%.
It is also lower than last month’s 0.9%.
US PPI has been falling consistently from Jan 2023 to Jun 2023 (latest).
Unemployment claims fell to 237,000 versus 249,000 (previous week) and against Wall Street expected 250,000.
Week to week jobless claims have not been consistently on the decline.
The heavy weight stocks releasing their Q2 2023 results are:
$JPMorgan Chase(JPM)$ - bank.
$Wells Fargo(WFC)$ - bank.
$Citigroup(C)$ - bank.
$UnitedHealth(UNH)$ - healthcare.
Question on everyone’s mind I guess will be, “will they or won’t they be able to hand in a stellar report card to further boost the market’s rally.
The banks’ performances for the past few days have been nothing short of “spectacular”:
All 3 banks have gained between +2.61% and +4.02% in their stock price.
Amidst the market rally.
Today will be the litmus test to see if they would be able to further this advance when they report their Q2 quarter earnings results.
Separately, United Health group will also be reporting their Q2 performances.
It is the the world's eleventh-largest company by revenue.
It is the largest healthcare company by revenue.
It is the largest insurance company by net premiums.
This explains why it is ranked #1 in the Dow Jones index with the highest weight of 8.575993.
How I See The US Market Today:
I believed the US market will continue its rally.
As it is the last trading day of the week, the upside will be “limited”.
Regardless its an upwards or downwards momentum, it will carry on into next week.
Do you think the bank stocks will hand in a stellar report?
Do you think the US market will continue to rally?

Not sure what to think about UNH. 2 months ago EPS est was about $6.14 and 2023 at $25.00. Analysts dropped those considerably... and now UNH "beats" with nearly identical numbers as those estimates months ago. The pop to $480 at least is consistent with the share price at that time, hovering in the 480 to 490 range. Seeing a lot of this current earnings season. Where estimates are dropped leading to beats. Not a conspiracy theorist fan, but...

I don't think investors should focus too much on quarterly earnigns, especially for a institution like JPM
UNH has been in my watchlist for a year.
BAC will beat top and bottom and gap up at the open tomorrow. JPM will follow.

How about Bank of America? Which one should we buy?
JPM is a over 200 dollars stock with its strong brand and trusts from everyone. The net interest income increase of such a proportion shows that it is generating a lot of free cash and can grow for years to come.
BAC jumped 4.5% on good earnings; JPM with 4%jump would be at $156😀

No resistance until $175 IMO
Why is Goldman Sachs getting a higher multiple than JPMorgan?
