Is Palantir A Buy Ahead Of Earnings?
๐๐๐The stock market is in a panic mode ahead of Palantir 's Q2 24 earnings report on Monday. The Cboe Volatility Index or $Cboe Volatility Index(VIX)$ also known as the Fear Gauge has jumped has jumped 25% on Monday and in the past 5 days, it has skyrocketed 39%.
Is $Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$
In Q1 24, Palantir had solid revenue growth as it continues to achieve 6 consecutive quarters of profitability. Revenue expanded by 21% annually due to solid performance in both commercial and government sectors.
For Q2 24, Wall Street Analysts are bullish on Palantir and expects an EPS of 8 cents or share, up 62% year on year and revenue of USD 652.46 million, am upside potential of 22.3% year on year.
Palantir has been awarded many US government contracts. The latest is the USD 480 million contract with US Department of Defense Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office over a 5 year period.
Palantir also won a new USD 178 million US Army contract for Project Titan, a battlefield system using AI.
Palantir aims to use Generative AI to spur growth in the commercial market. It has expanded into health care, energy and manufacturing.
Performance wise Palantir is down 5% on Friday and in the past week, it has dropped 10%. However it is still up 49% year todate and in 2023, Palantir has risen 37%.
Wall Street Analysts are mixed on Palantir with a high of USD 35 to a low of USD 9.00.
With the current sell off in the market, I believe that Palantir will be affected by the Bearish sentiments and its share price may even drop post earnings even though its Q2 24 earnings report maybe excellent.
However Palantir 's long term potential is enormous as Palantir is the market leader when it comes to data analytics. I believe this presents an unprecedented opportunity to bargainhunt this quality stock and hold long term.
