Is US Market Losing Steam? Where Will S&P 500 Close?

Recently, the US stock market has seen significant divergence. $.DJI(.DJI)$ has fallen for nine consecutive days, $.SPX(.SPX)$ has been flat for nearly a week, while the $.IXIC(.IXIC)$ continues to hit new highs, thanks to Tesla's strong performance. On top of that, the quantum computing sector remains a hot topic.

With only 7.5 trading days left in 2024 (the market will be closed for Christmas and have an early close on December 24), let’s make a fun prediction:

Where do you think the S&P 500 will close this year?

As of the close on December 17, the S&P 500 stands at 6,050 points, with the year's high at 6,099 points.

How High Can the S&P 500 Go in 2025?

Wall Street’s most optimistic prediction is in: the S&P 500 could rise to 7,100 points in 2025.

I predict the S&P 500 will close around 6,000 points this year. Given its current price after the correction due to FED speech and with only a few days left, a slight dip or rally seems likely. The market's volatility and sector performances, like tech, will play a big role in how it wraps up 2024.

Going by the average return of 10% to 15% per annum, I believe S&P500 will close at about 5500 points by the end of 2024. Losing steam? Nah, S&P500 is the best buy in the long run, perfect investment for even the amateur $Vanguard S&P 500 ETF(VOO)$
