What Does Bill Gates's Portfolio Look Like?

Bill Gates is the third-richest man in the world—after Tesla's Elon Musk (in first place) and Amazon's Jeff Bezos (in second place).

Shorting $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$

A conversation between "new richest man" Musk and "former richest man" Bill Gates appeared on Twitter. Bill Gates not only shorting Tesla, but also asking Musk to sponsor himself for charity.

In fact, "shorting Tesla" seems to have become the obsession of Wall Street bears.

Shorting a stock means investors borrow and sell shares they don't own, betting that the price will fall.

Short selling is no stranger to Tesla. The company's stock has been a very popular short in recent years. The bears don't believe Tesla can popularize electric vehicles and fund its operations with internally generated cash flow. But Tesla has done both.

Since 2020, Tesla has been firmly at the top of the U.S. stock short list, and the short position of Tesla has continued to increase, making Tesla the first stock in human history with a short position exceeding $20 billion.

Bill Gates' Latest Portfolio: Top Stocks Picks

Looking at Bill Gates' latest portfolio, I didn't find any information about Tesla.

Gates did not disclose the Tesla short via a quarterly 13-F filing. This is because the short is most likely an outright short, which is not required to be disclosed by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). With that in mind, let’s take a look at what Bill Gates is betting on.

To Bill Gates, shorting Tesla is just a trade, nothing more.  But to Elon Musk, it is a personal affront to himself.   Nonetheless it looks like Elon Musk may have the last laugh as Tesla's shares have shot up 20% just in the last few days.

In future, Bill Gates' new nickname can possibly be Bill "Big Short" Gates after Michael Burry's famous gameplay "The Big Short". 😁😁😁

    Bill and Tesla

//@koolgal: Bill Gates and Michael Burry seem to have a common interest - Both love to short Tesla shares!  According to Bill Gates, shorting Tesla has nothing to do with the environment.  It is just simply an investment strategy.  Bill Gates also said that " The popularity of electric cars will lead to more competition for selling those cars.  So there is a difference between electric cars being adopted and companies becoming infinitely valuable."Bill Gates maybe known by his new nickname  now - "Bill Gates The Big Short"! 😁😁😁@MillionaireTiger  @TigerStars  @CaptainTiger

Tesla is a company that is driven by profits, like all companies out there. While its products may be environmentally friendly, it should not be considered a philanthropic action for climate change.

I think he knows that Tesla is a semi tech stock but is overpriced. Its ratio is too high and is buoyed by sentiments instead of fundamentals. Hence he believes in the stock not the price

Shorting is not much different from investing long term and selling for capital gains
It's just being done the reverse way
Musk's ego and wealth is hurt by Gates' actions and he's not happy about it

Probably he is trying to take a dig at elon musk..
since tesla is advertised to be environmental friendly,so he is just joking that his investment against tesla is also equally environmental friendly
