Palantir earnings - the future of business analytics??

Palantir is due to release their earnings this coming week (17 Feb 2022, Thursday).  ‌$Palantir Technologies Inc.(PLTR)$‌is one of the companies that seemed to work in "secrecy" starting out from the government sector and subsequently moving to corporate clientele.  Since Nov 2021, we see significant drop of this company's stock and a death cross was spotted in early Dec 2021 (where the 50 moving average cuts the 200 moving area) - a typical bearish signal.

From Feb 2022, it seems that the company has hit support at level around $12.00 and has been on a "gradual" recovery.

From the company statistics above, we see that company has NOT been making profits (thus negative EPS TTM).  The 52 weeks price range is between a low of 11.75 to high of 30.44 - currently, it seems to have bottomed up.  With a market cap of $26.3B, Palantir do not issue dividend and trade at an average volume ofabout 42.5 million shares daily.

Analysts' view

for price target, Palantir ranged from a low of 13.00 and high of 25.30 with an average price target of 20.17 given by 9 analysts.  From Jan 2022 out of 11 anaylsts, 1 has recommended "Strong buy", 6 "hold", 2 "under-perform" and 2 "sell".  This gave their stock a score of 3.4 (where 1 is strong buy and 5 is sell, leaning more torwards "hold").

Inputs from Analysts should be taken as reference (as part of our research) and not the only reason to invest into any company.

Due to the patents, we may not know the inner workings of Palantir, but we see that they have more and more case studies, moving into more industries.  For those who are interested, please refer to their corporate website for more details.

One of Singapore's investors (https://www.youtube.com/c/InvestwithJang) has suggested a fair value of this company around $18.00 for the stock.

What would I do leading to the earnings?

I am personally concern that the business is not making money though the potential of this business remains potentially immense.  I hope that the earnings will bring more good news and thus, I am likely to take action after the release of the earnings report on 17 Feb 2022.

Unless one is a techie, it is really hard to understand the moat they have on the tech side with Apollo. The risk is mostly on the biz side (ie ramp of sales & marketing, reputation & direction)

covid hit a reset. if we're still so fixated on earnings and not revenue growth, we will always be behind. it is after all the palantiri, the indestructible crystal ball.

if all eyes are on revenue growth and future prospect, should we focus on profit earning as well as part of comprehensive analysis? I think this crucial considering cost of money will increase soon.

Revenue growth without earnings is just value destruction. With tighter monetary policy going forward, this is will be a prime short candidate

depending on how you value the company.  some friends would buy if the price is $18 and others only at $10.  let us do our due diligence
