🐻🐻🐻TSLA Shares Drops As Investors’ Expectations We're Not Met 🔋🚘TSLA started 1/3 on a bad note falling right at the start of the trading session as profit-takers started making their moves. 🔋🚘 ended the session 1.43% down to $202.77. Investors sold off further as Musk disappoints on the Hyped-Up Investors’ Day🫠 Musk didn't do his magic🪄🪄🪄 & 🔋🚘 couldn't break it's 200-day moving average, so the sell-off came earlier than expected. More selling started 30mins into the presentation & by the post-market, 🔋🚘 dropped by another 5.61% to $191.40. 🔋🚘 is likely going to drag down the broader market the rest of thIs week...
What Caused The Sell-Off❓
(1) This is the case where with Great Expectations Comes Great Disappointments😞
👎 The presentation was long on vision, & included a review of prior achievements, but short on specifics about any new major 🔋🚘 products or services.
➡️ ”Master Plan 3" includes $10 trillion in capital expenditures to cover mining & refining raw materials along with developing storage & vehicle batteries. Musk's global plan calls for vast energy storage of 240,000 gigawatt hours & sustainable energy production taking place on 0.2% of the Earth's land area🥱🥱🥱
➡️ His strategy is to convert the 🌎 to renewable power from the ☀️ & 💨, stored on massive TSLA batteries, & to get drivers out of carbon-fueled cars & trucks and into ever more affordable EVs.
➡️ His planned execution is vertical integration (doing as much in-house as possible), scaling existing factories & building new ones❣️
👎 There was a show off a number of planned manufacturing changes meant to improve the efficiency of 🔋🚘 vehicle production & this was labelled the “Next-Gen” vehicle but nothing was revealed.
👎 The much-hoped-for 📰 of a new $25,000 vehicle was not in sight🐻🐻🐻
(2) The ONLY Investors’ Worthy 📰 to celebrate about was that Cybertruck will be available in 2023🥳 but that obviously wasn’t enough for TSLA🐂🐂🐂 Even this announcement just elicited minimal applause or excitement😞😞😞
Other 🔑 Points (In Order of Observed Audience Excitement):
(1) TSLA's goal is to produce 20 million electric vehicles per year by 2030, executives reiterated. The company reported full-year deliveries of around 1.31 million vehicles in 2022.
➡️ Musk declined to comment on when 🔋🚘 expects to reveal a prototype of its next model or discuss what that vehicle might look like. He said he thinks TSLA will need to eventually offer a total of around 10 models to reach its 2030 sales goal.
(2) TSLA significantly improved operational efficiency🥳
⭐️ The company's manufacturing leader, Tom Zhu, revealed that 🔋🚘 had produced 4 million cars as of 1/3 (Wed). It took about:
👌12 years to build the 1st million,
👍 18 months to the 2nd million
👍👍 11 months to the 3rd million
👍👍👍 Less than 7 months to build the 4th million
⭐️ TSLA’s target is to reduce 50% of costs for their “Next-Gen” vehicle, which will lead to a more affordable vehicle.
(3) At the start of the Q&A session, Musk appeared to have sensed the gloominess in the room & announced that its next gigafactory will be in Mexico, where the next-Gen vehicles will be made, but that didn’t excite the crowd much.
➡️ Production there would supplement, rather than replace, any manufacturing at other TSLA facilities.
(4) In 2022,🔋🚘 provided 9 terawatt hours across charging methods, including home charging & 40,000 Superchargers. Half of the TSLA’s Superchargers in the EU are open to other vehicles, & they just opened 10 Superchargers in the 🇺🇸 to non-Teslas.
(5) TSLA's next powertrain factory will be 50% smaller than the one in Austin, Texas, but will have the same capacity & they’re working on a new kind of drive unit that is compatible with any battery cell type, & a motor that will be built without any rare earth metals.
(6) TSLA announced it will offer a retail electricity plan to people who own 🔋🚘 vehicles where customers can have unlimited overnight home charging for $30 per month.
(7) TSLA officially broke ground at a new lithium refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas, & they’re working to have it operational by the end of 2023.
(8) Optimus can walk now⁉️ Musk claims this to be a big improvement from AI day but none in the audience wow-ed😅
➡️ I actually know it’s true because I work in in a relevant area. We take walking for granted, but it’s actually a Marvellous Handicraft Work of God🌈
