Top 10 Lithium Stocks to Watch 2023

Hi Aussie,

In recent years, the demand for lithium has increased due to the growth of electric vehicle (EV) production and the expansion of renewable energy storage systems. As a result, many lithium mining and production companies have experienced significant growth in their stock prices.

In the first quarter of 2023, some factors that could potentially impact lithium stocks include:

1. EV demand: The demand for electric vehicles is expected to continue growing, which could increase the demand for lithium and positively impact lithium stocks.

2. Government policies: Government policies and regulations can have a significant impact on the lithium industry. For example, policies that support the growth of renewable energy and EVs could be beneficial for lithium stocks.

3. Global economic conditions: Economic conditions can impact the demand for lithium, as well as the prices of other commodities. Economic uncertainties, such as inflation or geopolitical tensions, could potentially impact the stock prices of lithium companies.

Two questions should be considered when choosing lithium stocks.

One consideration is whether you wish to invest in lithium startups or more established companies? A general principle is high risk, high reward.

Other factors to consider include whether you want to invest in companies that produce lithium itself, or manufacture products, such as lithium battery makers and lithium recycling stocks. For miners, success is based on the price of lithium. For manufacturers, price and demand for lithium goods are important.

I am bullish on $Pilbara Minerals Ltd(PLS.AU)$.Pilbara is among analysts’ favorites in the sector due to the scale and profitability of its operations. The Pilgangoora project is known for its vast scale and efficiency in terms of cost. This gives the company an advantage in navigating the period of falling lithium prices.
In its annual results for 2022, the company posted a huge 577% increase to AU$1.2 billion, along with an operating profit after tax of AU$562 million. The company’s spodumene shipments have increased by 28% over the previous year. The company also launched Battery Material Exchange (BMX), which is a platform for trading spodumene concentrate. With this, it is able to benefit from much higher prices through auctions. @Tiger_AU

X cheap Kdk//@onlyYou:I am bullish on $Core Exploration Ltd(CXO.AU)$. The company is is poised to become Australia’s next lithium producer at its Finniss Lithium Project which is located proximately to the Darwin Port in the Northern Territory. The Finniss Project has a high-grade lithium resource and a 12-year mine life. It is claimed to be a very capital-efficient and the lowest-cost spodumene lithium project as it uses simple and efficient DMS (gravity) processing. This process ensures lower cost and low start-up risk. In addition, Finniss boasts of excellent supporting infrastructure and a logistics chain that is best suited among Australian lithium producers for supply into the high-demand Asian region. @Tiger_AU

Thanks for this article. Not traded at any lithium stocks as i know its out of my COC. As a general whole, if EV continues soaring, lithium companies will benefit. However which company has the strongest moat? If the cycle unwinds and if recession hits, which company will survive? DYODD fellow Tigers [Glance][Great]

Lithium demand has surged over the last couple of years, attracting investor attention. I am bullish on $MINERAL RESOURCES LTD(MIN.AU)$. The company focus on the iron ore and hard-rock lithium sectors in Western Australia. The company's current lithium projects include Mount Marion and Wodgina. The Mount Marion lithium project was upgraded in April 2022 to a production rate of 600,000 tonnes per year of mixed-grade product. Mineral Resources and its joint venture partner Albemarle (NYSE:ALB) recommenced operations at the Wodgina project in response to surging lithium demand, and first produced spodumene concentrate from train 1 in June and train 2 in July. Mineral Resources announced its hopes to produce lithium hydroxide at the Wodgina mine within the next five years. This could be the right time to invest in $MINERAL RESOURCES LTD(MIN.AU)$. @Tiger_AU

With the rising EV industry and a tight market, experts are expecting to see positive growth in lithium prices in 2023 and in the years to come. Hence, I feel this is a good time to invest in lithium stocks. I am bullish on $Pilbara Minerals Ltd(PLS.AU)$. The company fully owned Pilgangoora operation has a range of global partners and produces spodumene and tantalite concentrate. It has two processing plants, called Pilgan and Ngungaju; the former produces both a spodumene concentrate and a tantalite concentrate, while the latter produces a spodumene concentrate. Pilbara also has the Mount Francisco joint venture with Atlas Iron; according to the company, there is still significant drilling to be done at the project as many targets are untested.
Pilbara has entered into long-term agreements with several high-ranking companies, including China’s Ganfeng Lithium (SZSE:002460), Great Wall Motor Company (HKEX:2333) and General Lithium. @Tiger_AU @AhGong

My top pick is $Allkem Limited(AKE.AU)$. In November 2021, lithium supplier Orocobre merged with Galaxy Lithium to form what is now known as Allkem. Allkem currently owns and runs operations for seven different projects worldwide in Argentina, Japan, Australia and Canada. Allkem presented its growth strategy in April 2022 and through this plan it aims to triple its production by 2026 while maintaining a position of 10 percent of the world’s lithium production for the next decade. Holding to that plan, the company announced the first production of lithium hydroxide at its Naraha plant in Japan. Hence, I am bullish on $Allkem Limited(AKE.AU)$ @Tiger_AU

Bullish on $Liontown Resources Ltd(LTR.AU)$. The company has two projects located in Western Australia, a resource-rich area of Australia. The Kathleen Valley project is expected to become a top battery metals provider and is projected to begin development in Q2 2024. The company's Buldania project has an initial mineral resource of 15 million tonnes at 1 percent lithium oxide. Last month, the company entered into a binding power purchase agreement with Zenith Energy, a globally reaching but independent Canadian oil and gas company. This agreement is for Zenith to design a power station that will supply Liontown’s Kathleen project with wind- and solar-generated electricity for the next 15 years. @Tiger_AU

$MINERAL RESOURCES LTD(MIN.AU)$ is a large, integrated Australian mining company with a significant market presence in four businesses. These are mining services, iron ore, lithium, and energy. The company has also recently progressed its establishment of integrated port and marine infrastructure facilities and taken control of the largest on-shore gas discovery in Australia through the Norwest Energy acquisition.

Current lithium demand is unclear hence I would suggest only buying in-production lithium companies. I’m most bullish for $Rio Tinto Ltd(RIO.AU)$ and it would be the safest of course as it’s a Major Miner. There’s also less risk involved since RIO mines other metals on top of lithium. $MINERAL RESOURCES LTD(MIN.AU)$ $Pilbara Minerals Ltd(PLS.AU)$ $Allkem Limited(AKE.AU)$ are in-production companies but their share prices have been hit quite badly recently after US lithium stocks suffered a sell-off. It might look like a 👍 time to enter since prices are lower but pure-play lithium stocks could have been overvalued so PLS and AKE might face downward pressure from time to time. LKE is heavily shorted. Monitor closely and trade safe fellow 🐯🐯🐯 if you want to buy lithium stocks❣️ Thanks @Tiger_AU for this important and timely update, appreciate loads🥰

$Rio Tinto Ltd(RIO.AU)$ is a great global player in mining sector. Thus, I think buying Rio is a save due to the multisector mining that it have. I do think it's a good time to buy it before it become the obligation to produce EV.

looks like lithium is here to stay as many governments around the world are mandating vehicles to be fully electric in 20years time.
however I think they are too ambitious and the goal posts would be shifted
