This week, $Gold - main 2504(GCmain)$ broke through the $3,000 mark. Goldman Sachs maintains its baseline scenario of $3,100 for 2025, with an upward risk to the forecast range of $3,100-$3,300.

In the past, gold's returns were often considered low. But the data is clear: in the past five years, gold's returns have been nearly on par with $S&P 500(.SPX)$.

Gold's Three Cycles: Every Generation Meets Gold

  • Declining gold production: As resources become scarcer, gold supply decreases, leading to an increase in gold prices.

  • Inflation: Gold performs exceptionally well as a traditional store of value during inflationary periods.

  • Central banks hoarding gold: Major central banks around the world purchase large amounts of gold to maintain monetary stability.

  • Lack of new gold discoveries: Few new gold mines are discovered, further driving up gold prices due to its scarcity.

Every generation meets gold and leaves behind its own "love."

Each person's story with gold may not always be about investment but is more related to the backdrop of the times, economic conditions, and personal experiences. No matter what your relationship with gold is, it plays an irreplaceable role during different historical cycles. In this volatile market, we look forward to hearing your story.

Have you ever shifted your wealth to gold during economic turmoil, enjoying the security it provided?

Gold Breaks $3000: Elevate to $3200 or Ready for Pullback?
Under the impact of Trump's tariffs, market uncertainty has increased, and gold has surpassed $3,000. Goldman Sachs maintains its baseline scenario of $3,100 for 2025, with an upward risk to the forecast range of $3,100-$3,300. If the base scenario remains to be $3100, What’s your target price for gold in 2025? Will gold aim higher with Trump government's uncertainty?

🌟🌟🌟Gold Fever has hit the markets with the Spot price of Gold reaching the magical USD 3000 mark.  This is due to Gold's status as a safe haven asset in times of geopolitical conflicts and the possible escalation of trade wars caused by Donald Trump's Tariffs.

Gold is also a highly treasured precious commodity and its demand has far outstripped supply in recent times.

In Singapore it is a common practice to give Gold jewellery items as presents during special occasions like weddings and birthdays.  I have a gold bangle that my mother has given me on my 21st birthday which I treasure.   Another important gold item which I wear all the time is my wedding ring .  This wedding ring is a symbol of love from my husband.

Gold to me represents more than just a precious commodity.  It is a physical representation of love and can be passed onto future generations.

I’ve always viewed gold as a reliable store of value, especially during uncertain times. While I primarily focus on equities for long-term growth, I recognize gold’s role in preserving wealth and hedging against inflation.

I haven’t made major shifts into gold during economic turmoil, but I do keep an eye on it as part of a diversified strategy. Seeing gold break the $3,000 mark reinforces its strength in this macro environment. The combination of declining production, central bank accumulation, and inflation makes a compelling case for its continued rise.

For 2025, I think $3,100 is achievable, but given the current momentum, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see it push toward $3,300 or higher. Gold has a way of surprising people, and every generation seems to have its own story with it. Let’s see how this cycle unfolds!

I have never bought gold as gold incurs storage cost and of itself has no growth potential. It only rises during times of uncertainty due to demand as people rush to a secure asset. Now that gold has hit $3000, all the more I feel that the potential upside/benefit cannot outweigh the risks. I would prefer to stay away at this current value. I do think that gold still has a bit more upside with trump’s tariffs and the potential trade war, though I think it would only hit $3200 before retreating. I don’t think trump would be that foolish to engage in trade wars; the tariffs are just his strategies to get what he wants. Once that is clear, gold will retreat.

Gold fascinates me—not just as an investment, but as a symbol of security. I haven’t personally bought gold during economic turmoil, but I see its appeal. It offers stability, hedging against inflation and currency devaluation.

I was surprised by gold’s surge during the pandemic. Watching it hit record highs in 2020 showed how quickly investors turn to safe-haven assets. Even “stable” gold isn’t immune to volatility, which makes it intriguing.

Beyond finance, gold holds cultural meaning for me. Growing up, family heirlooms—gold jewelry passed through generations—showed its emotional and financial worth. This blend makes gold unique.

Looking ahead, Goldman Sachs’ forecast of $3,100-$3,300 for 2025 seems reasonable. But with inflation and geopolitical risks, $3,500 or higher wouldn’t surprise me. It’s an asset I’m watching closely.

What about you? Have you invested in gold, or does it hold special meaning for you?
