Tesla is set to report second-quarter earnings after the market close on Wednesday, July 22. Analysts expect Tesla to report second-quarter revenue of around $26 billion and earnings of approximately $0.50-$0.54 per share. Automotive gross margin excluding regulatory credits is expected to remain above 18%. $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ $Direxion Daily TSLA Bull 2X Shares(TSLL)$
The company has already reported Q2 deliveries of 480,126 vehicles, up around 25% year over year, showing signs of recovery after several challenging quarters. However, investors are looking beyond delivery numbers. The key questions now are whether Tesla can stabilize margins, improve cash flow, and prove that AI, Robotaxi and Optimus can become the company’s next growth engines.
What to Watch
-
Margins will be the biggest focus. Tesla’s price cuts helped support demand but pressured margins over the past two years. Investors will be watching whether stronger deliveries can translate into improved profitability, and whether free cash flow can support rising AI and infrastructure spending.
-
Beyond vehicle sales, investors will look for updates on FSD, Robotaxi expansion and Optimus production plans. Any progress in autonomous driving or robotics could reshape Tesla’s future valuation.
-
Tesla shares are down more than 15% year to date, and options markets imply a post-earnings move of around 7%.
-
Will Tesla rebound after earnings, or will margin pressure continue to weigh on the stock?

What I'm most interested in is management's update on Robotaxi, FSD and Optimus. These businesses will have a much bigger impact on Tesla's long-term valuation than quarterly vehicle sales. Any progress on commercialization or production timelines could become the biggest catalyst for the stock.
I'm prepared for short-term volatility, especially with options pricing in a large move after earnings. However, I remain optimistic about Tesla's long-term AI strategy and will continue holding my position if management shows steady execution toward its autonomous driving and robotics goals.
