Currently Apple's market capitalisation is USD 2.73 Trillion while Microsoft is 2.36 Trillion. The last time Microsoft was larger than Apple was in November 2021. While Apple shares have dropped this month, Microsoft has held steady, narrowing the gap between the 2 Tech Giants.
Apple lost USD 200 billion in 2 days after reports that China plans to expand a ban on the use of iPhones to government employees. China is one of Apple's largest markets.
Microsoft has the edge in Cloud Computing and AI growth compared to Apple. Investors are also enthusiastic about its backing of Open AI, the fastest growing startup behind ChatGPT.
Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard looks like it maybe approved by the UK antitrust regulator, making Microsoft one of the biggest companies in the online gaming sector.
Microsoft is expected to see double digit growth in revenue and net earnings per share in 2024. Apple is coming off 3 straight quarters with negative revenue growth. Even though Apple's projected growth in 2024 will be better, it will not be as strong as that of Microsoft.
Apple's iPhones and watches are showing signs of strong demand but a new phone from Huawei could be a competitive threat amid concerns about government restrictions on iPhones in China.
In other news, the other members of Magnificent 7 stocks have mixed results this week due to a hawkish Feds FOMC meeting.

Nonetheless all 7 members of the Magnificent 7 are worth keeping a close eye on to buy on weakness and hold long term. They are Magnificent for a good reason because all 7 have wide moats, are profitable and are market leaders in their field.
