🌟🌟🌟It's going to be an exciting weekend in Singapore with the Formula 1 Grand Prix  taking place in Marina Bay Street Circuit between September 20 to 22!

In 2023, more than 260,000 people flocked to the Marina Bay Circuit.  This year promises yet  another round of on track excitement.  For those who are new to F1 racing, there will be 10 F1 teams competing for the world title.  Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing are the defending champions this season.

The F1 Singapore Grand Prix  is regarded as one of the most difficult races on the F1 calendar.  The drivers have to grapple with high heat and humidity as well as an intense lap of near continuous corners that will test drivers to their limits lap after lap.

The Marina Bay Circuit has 19 corners over 4.94 km.  This is an average of one every 260m, making it one of the most intense laps of all the venues.

Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri from Team McLaren are favoured to claim pole position.  However Charles  Leclerc and Max Verstappen are definitely in the running.

Max Verstappen has won 3 Formula 1 Drivers' Championship titles from 2021 to 2023 with Red Bull.    However he has yet to win the Singapore Circuit.  Perhaps this will be his lucky race in Singapore. 

Do you know that an F1 car is a marvel of modern engineering, designed to push the limits of speed, agility and performance? An F1 car costs around USD 15.9 million.  The engine is the most expensive component with a single turbocharged 1.6 litre V6 engine valued at approximately USD 10.6 million.

Tyres are critical to an F1 car's performance, influencing grip, speed and safety.  A set of 4 tyres costs about USD 2,700 with teams requiring up to 13 sets per driver for a race weekend.  This translates to a substantial expense of over USD 35,000 per driver for each event.

Even though the focus is on the F1 driver, a successful race is actually due to his team efforts.  A Winning team needs good management, trust and cooperation.  Take for example changing tyres during a race.  Many happen in 2.5 seconds or less.  The fastest on record is 1.8 seconds set by Team McLaren in October 9 2023.

I love watching the F1 cars in action and the skill of the drivers in action to manoeuvre tight corners and high octane action.  

There are lessons to be learnt in watching an F1 race.   

1. Teamwork is crucial to the success of the race.  The winner of an F1 race is due to the collective effort of his team.  Its synergy in action.  Teamwork makes the dream work. 

2.  Change - An F1 team is constantly in a state of flux.  An F1 team makes lots of modifications to a car in a season in order to improve performance to secure pole position. 

3.  Data drives decision in F1 racing.  F1 cars are full of sensors that send terabytes of data for analysis.  Data makes it possible to explore and inspect plausible situations that may help to troubleshoot problems during a race day.

4.  Improvement and innovation are required to create new strategies and technologies to make a winning F1 car. 

5. The importance of good communications - when the team communicates well with each other, the margin of error gets smaller while improvement is made to fine tune the final F1 car in order to win the race. 

These lessons can be applied to our daily lives and to investing too.  When we accept that change is necessary to improve and when we have the knowledge and can communicate well, we are in the winners'seat to success. 

In Formula 1, every race is a new start.  So let's embrace the idea that every day is a fresh start.  The past is history, the future is unknown but today is a present.
