🌟🌟🌟Is it finally time to surrender to the MRT or do we keep fighting for the freedom  of driving a car?

In Singapore COE premiums hit a high of USD 124,790 in May.  That is not a typo error.

The Case for the MRT:  With Keppel, Cantonment and Prince Edward Road Station, opening mid May 2026, the rail network is getting more extensive.

The Case for the Car:  If you have a large family, the hidden cost of your time and sanity might still outweigh the staggering price tag.

Personally I prefer to ride the MRT as it is easy on the pocket and avoids traffic jams.

It's in SGD actually. Typo on denomination [Grin]. You're spot on, on the affordability and practicality of owning and running a car here. For those who have already owning and convenience of having a car, it will be a difficult choice. In reality, we cannot stop the younger generation from having that aspiration of having a car, not just as a luxury but convenience. At the end of the day, it boils down to ones income and affordability factor. Hopefully the future generation will be able to make wise choices of not having themselves got trapped in loans for things they cannot actually afford.

If it is USD, owning a car in Singapore is beyond the reach of the average person.
