[Thursday Special] Do You Know Dividends' Power?

Do you know dividends' power?

Dividend investing provides investors with steady cash flow over the long term. And when you reinvest dividend income, the magic of compounding can turbocharge your returns. Over the last century, dividend payments account for about 40% of the total return of the $S&P 500(.SPX)$.

Here is a strategy for you to get paid monthly dividend income:

Source: Stock Masters

The best dividend stocks give you a great hedge against inflation, as they provide both appreciation and capital gains to offset rising costs. From 1991 to 2015, dividend stocks delivered more than twice the return of non-dividend paying stocks.

Do you hold any of these stocks?

Or tell us about the dividend stocks you bullish on.

Dividend stocks are a good way of getting regular income  But be aware that sometimes high dividends comes at the expense of the share prices. Go for companies with a good income stream like Coca Cola, Bank of New York , or ETFs like $iShares Core High Dividend ETF(HDV)$ that consists of many medium and large Us companies that can give a good return on share prices and dividends . It is nice to have some regular passive income coming in .

I understood the power of dividend compounding well. I mostly bought stocks that paid high dividends like Coke, Mersk, Starbucks n some others in USA. In Singapore, I own many reits counters for more than a decade, enjoying the high DPU. I avoid non dividends payout stocks as they are not aligned to my principle of passive income investing.

Good strategy. Dividend payouts can cushion the drop in share price when market is not in your favour

🌟🌟🌟There is nothing that makes me happier in investing than collecting dividends. It gives me great comfort especially when the markets are down.

My favourite dividend stock is none other than $Coca-Cola(KO)$  , the world's biggest beverage company with a market capitalisation of USD 275.65 billion.  Coca-Cola is not only a Dividend Aristocrat but a Dividend King!  It has been paying increasing dividends for 60 consecutive years.  Now that is a record which is hard to beat.

$Coca-Cola(KO)$  has a wide moat due to its brand and extensive distribution network world wide.  It ticks all the core fundamentals of a quality stock.  It is profitable, has a solid balance sheet and an excellent management team.

No wonder Warren Buffett loves $Coca-Cola(KO)$  .  It has provided him not only with dividend income over the years but capital appreciation too.

Coca-Cola is one stock I can count on to provide me with a great source of passive income all seasons.

companies with strong fundamentals n pays dividends are usually good long term investments. I treat these as part of my savings plan. always nice to see "interest payments" coming into my bank account from these dividends. besides $Occidental(OXY)$ n $Clorox(CLX)$ (sold last year), most of my dividend stocks are SG ones, like $WILMAR INTERNATIONAL LIMITED(F34.SI)$ , $NETLINK NBN TRUST(CJLU.SI)$ , $SINGAPORE TECH ENGINEERING LTD(S63.SI)$ , n REITS, etc which pays out at least 4% [Happy]

I hold $DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$. For fiscal 2023’s third quarter (3Q2022) earnings. Net interest income (NII) surged by 44% year on year while net profit hit a record high of S$2.2 billion. The bank paid out a quarterly dividend of S$0.36 for 3Q2022, similar to the previous three quarters but 9.1% higher than 3Q2021’s S$0.32. The group’s trailing 12-month dividend yield stood at 4.3%. The lender has room to grow its dividend further as it enjoys tailwinds from higher interest rates that should boost its NII. @MillionaireTiger @deal2deal

I like $South32(S32.AU)$. The company is a diversified mining and metals company that produces a broad range of commodities, including alumina, bauxite, aluminium, copper, silver, lead, zinc, nickel, metallurgical coal and manganese.
Morgans maintains an add rating for South32, on improvements to its portfolio which are 'substantially boosting group earnings quality, as well as S32's risk and ESG profile.'
The broker is also impressed with South32's dividend policy, anticipating fully franked dividends per share of 22.9 cents in FY23 and 21.5 cents in FY24. Given that its share price currently stands at around $4.25, this would translate into yields of approximately 5.4% and 5.1% respectively. @MillionaireTiger @AhGong @nickname168

I am bullish on $SINGAPORE EXCHANGE LIMITED(S68.SI)$.The bourse operator pays out a quarterly dividend of S$0.08 per share.
For its most recent fiscal 2022 (FY2022) ending 30 June, SGX reported its highest revenue since its IPO of S$1.1 billion, up 4% year on year.
Net profit inched up 1% year on year to S$451 million.
The total dividend for FY2022 came in at S$0.32, similar to what was paid out a year ago, giving SGX’s shares a trailing dividend yield of 3.5%.
The group is well-positioned to maintain or even increase this dividend moving forward.
For its recent November 2022 market statistics, SGX reported that derivatives traded volume rose 30% year on year to 23.7 million contracts.
Foreign exchange volumes also rose to a new all-time high. @MillionaireTiger @deal2deal @luv2trade

I recommend $UMS HOLDINGS LIMITED(558.SI)$.UMS provides equipment manufacturing and engineering services to semiconductor original equipment manufacturers. UMS also paid out a dividend of S$0.01 each for the first and second quarters of this year.
Along with a final dividend of S$0.02 for FY2021, the trailing 12-month dividend came in at S$0.05, giving the equipment services firm a trailing dividend yield of 4%. @MillionaireTiger @onlyYou

I recommend $IFAST CORPORATION LTD.(AIY.SI)$.iFAST is a financial technology group that operates a platform for the buying and selling of unit trusts, equities, and bonds. The group maintained its interim dividend of S$0.013 despite reporting a near-73% year on year plunge in net profit for 3Q2022. For 9M2022, the fintech outfit has paid out a total dividend of S$0.034, unchanged from a year ago. iFAST’s trailing 12-month dividend came in at S$0.048, giving its shares a trailing dividend yield of 0.8%. Despite the weaker results, iFAST expects revenue and net profit to scale to new heights in 2023 when the contributions from its new Hong Kong e-pension division kick in. Should the estimates play out as projected, the group should have room to raise its dividends further. @MillionaireTiger

An interim dividend of S$0.04 was paid out, and STE has committed to paying a total of S$0.16 in dividends for FY2022. The forward dividend yield on its shares comes in at 4.8%.
