[TOPIC]Which Series You Expect Most on Disney+?
$Walt Disney(DIS)$'s replacement of CEO brings hope to investors and fans. The well-known park owner is working on its streaming media. It has become a worthy adversary for $Netflix(NFLX)$.
The contrast between two CEOs
Bob Iger, one of the most successful CEOs in the history of Walt Disney, is returning.
Chapek, who had been hand-picked for the role by Iger, led Disney for less than three years, a period marked by staff unrest, poor talent relations, stagnating franchises, and a steep drop in share price.
Iger, however, was well liked. He acquired Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century Fox; and launched Disney Plus, turning a family entertainment company into a 21st-century media juggernaut.
During that time, Disney’s market value increased fivefold.
Iger’s reappointment is probably intended to reassure shareholders and shore up the company’s share price, which has dropped 40% in 2022 to date.
The next focus of Disney -- Streaming Media and Films
In its three years of existence, Disney+ has more than 164 million subscribers, three quarters of $Netflix(NFLX)$ . Its full platform, including Hulu and others, has 236 million subscribers, surpassing Netflix's 223 million.
According to the latest earnings:
Streaming subscriber growth was better than expected, with a total of 235 million subscribers. But the single-quarter loss reached $1.47 billion, almost reaching the peak of DIS's financially acceptable single-quarter loss ($1.5 billion).
Disney will have to consider how to profit from streaming next quarter. The company expects to make Disney+ profitable by the end of 2024.
Disney's platform usage increased in October:
- Disney+ usage increased by 6.8%.
- Hulu usage increased to 5%.
- Pluto TV usage rose to 0.9% for the first time

- BenjiFuji·2022-11-22TOPI am anticipanting more marvel and star wars series, like Mandalorian and Loki. Although i think these series might boost ratings, it is in a very competitive environment for eyeballs. Bob Iger might turn things around into profit but not likely to change things magically. What do you think? [Glance]13Report
