AU | What should Australia investors know before trading dividend stocks?

Capital gains tax (CGT) is applicable in Australia, which is a tax on the profit made from the sale of an asset, including stocks, that has increased in value since it was acquired. For individuals, the CGT tax rate typically range from 19% to 45%, plus a 2% Medicare levy. Some assets are exempt from capital gain tax, such as the main residence. The capital gain tax rate in Australia depends on 1. Income tax bracket and 2. How long an individual has held the asset. If an individual who has owned an asset for more than 12 months, it is eligible for a 50% discount on capital gain. This means you only pay tax on half of net capital gain. The net capital gain is added to taxable income and taxed at different marginal tax rate. How about Dividend Tax in Australia?Since Australia follows a one-tie

Stocks were born to share risks and profits. The first stock was born in Netherlands. The company was expedition fleets. People started investing in each individual fleet first, but a single fleet was risky, storm, pirate...so the first public company was set up, expedition fleets for trading. The owner can get goods as dividend from the company. Now days, both institute and retail investors are used to chasing hot spot regardless of company price. Sometimes price represents many years later if the company developed well. A lot of people just hope to get quick money within months. So many people got hurt from it. I live in Singapore. My family stays in HDB apartment, no any loans. My idle cash is not enough to buy a condominium without loans. The best choice for me is to invest in stocks t

50% profit 🏦🏦🏦for $KEPPEL CORPORATION LIMITED(BN4.SI)$  As a proud shareholder of Keppel Corporation of Singapore, I can attest to the value that this company provides to its investors. Not only did I buy my shares at a cheap price of $5.70, but the company also gave me $2.00 worth of Sembcorp Marine shares, which I was able to sell for additional profit. On top of that, I receive a yearly dividend of 0.35, which means that my cost basis for owning Keppel Corporation has now been reduced to a mere $3.40. 🏬🛕🛕🛕🌠🌠🌠🌄 Keppel Corporation is a diversified conglomerate that operates in a range of industries, including offshore and marine, infrastructure, and property. My Old School Investment Mentality. Too Late To Change?

Before diving into what type of investor I am, I think it’s fair & objective to list the pros & cons of shareholder mentality when it comes to investing in equities. Agree ? What “Shareholder Mentality” Means To Me ? (Oh ! don’t have to concur). A shareholder mentality is a way of thinking that focuses on the long-term value and growth of a company, rather than the short-term fluctuations of its stock price. A shareholder mentality implies that an investor is (a) committed to holding the shares of a company for a long period of time, (b) regardless of market conditions, and (c) that they are interested in the company's fundamentals, such as its earnings, dividends, competitive advantage, & corporate governance. The one person that immediately floats into my mind befitting of a

Buy and hold, but be careful!

I like to believe that I’m an investor rather than a trader, and a long-term one. As long as I’ve performed careful due diligence and bought with strong conviction of a stock’s stable income potential or long-term growth prospects, I would not be bothered by its short-term volatility. I agree with Warren Buffett that some people are just not emotionally and psychologically fit to own stocks. Volatility is our friend, but you could easily turn it into your enemy if you panicked and lost sleep over every slightest market downturn. Indeed, the stock market is the only place where investors rush for the exit during a sale. While the ideal holding period for a fundamentally strong company is forever, it pays to regularly monitor one’s investments to ensure that their fundamentals remain intact.

How to Balance Short Term Profit with Shareholder Mentality

Balancing short-term profit with a shareholder mentality can be challenging, as the two approaches can sometimes be at odds with each other. However, there are a few strategies that investors can use to try and strike a balance: 1. Diversify your portfolio: By investing in a mix of stocks with different levels of risk and return potential, you can help balance short-term profits with long-term growth. This can help minimize the impact of short-term fluctuations on your overall portfolio. 2. Focus on quality companies: Look for companies with strong fundamentals, such as a solid business model, good management, and competitive advantages. These companies are more likely to perform well over the long term, and may also offer short-term gains. 3. Keep a long-term perspective: Remember that a

It really depends on whether you are a trader or an investor. If you have an investor mentality, then you need to be like one. Be genuinely interested in everything that is happening with the company and look long term. In the short term, macroeconomic factors and volatility are just noise. In fact, any short term dips will present themselves as good buying opportunities. You need to have a long term horizon of at least 5-10 years. When you keep accumulating shares regularly or buy on dips, you will end up with your pot of gold, as long as the most of the company remains.

Shareholder primacy is the belief that shareholders are more important to a business' success than any other stakeholder (such as employees, customers, or the community) and, as a result, businesses should put shareholder needs first whenever making decisions.
