Alzheimer's Drug Win, But No Stock Soar for Lilly?
Despite FDA's nod to $Eli Lilly(LLY)$'s Kisunla for treating early symptomatic Alzheimer's, a blockbuster with potential annual peak sales of $5 billion, the stock surprisingly didn't take flight. Why the lull? The Good News Was Already Baked InThe simple truth: Lilly's share price had already factored in the FDA approval. A rejection would've likely tanked the stock.A month ago, the FDA's advisory panel unanimously recommended approval, citing the drug's benefits outweighing risks. Plus, donanemab's performance in earlier trials mirrored Biogen's Leqembi, which gained approval last year. These were clear signs Kisunla's approval was all but certain. It's a classic case of "buy the rumor, sell the news" for Lilly shares, evidenced by their slight di

Is the market over-reacting? One of the semiconductor juggernaut, ASML just reported its earnings. Its second-quarter net income of 1.6 billion euros (down 17.5% yoy) on revenues of 6.2 billion euros (down 10.2% yoy). Next, its closely watched new bookings increased to 5.6 billion euros ($6.11 billion) from 3.6 billion euros in the first quarter of 2024, with about half of that coming from the company's most advanced EUV product lines -- vital in the manufacture of AI chips and smartphones. Another concern is the prospect of more severe U.S. restrictions on China. The U.S. government is thinking of imposing the most severe trade curbs available if companies including ASML continue to provide China access to advanced semiconductor technology. ASML is being target by the U.S.

Midweek Update: Why Are There Spiking Rate Cut Expectations?
Traders now expect 3 rate cuts by the end of 2024, compared to only 1 rate cut expected one month earlier. There is a 90% chance of a September rate cut, up from about 70% earlier, while the probabilities of rate cuts in November and December are above 50%. Other than softer-than-expected inflation data, I reckon a weaker-than-expected labor market is the key driver for spiking rate cut expectations. Source: CME Fedwatch Why might the labor market be weaker than expected? 1) April and May job numbers revised down sharply. The US labor market initially added 165K and 272K jobs in April and May respectively, but recently, the non-farm payrolls were revised down to 108K and 218K for those months. In other words, there were 111,000 fewer jobs in April and May than previously estimated, s

Selling covered call options (sell covered call) is a strategy adopted by many large funds. It can also be used by retail investors in the US stock market. You can get income while holding it. This strategy is very suitable for stocks that have long-term positions, but they have not moved but they are not in a bearish position recently or are in a bearish position recently. It can be a good strategy for mature investors to roll over when holding some targets for a long time. While ASML just reported an earnings beat, as demands for artificial intelligence boosts orders for its mission-critical EUV lithography machines required for the wafer fabrication of the smallest geometries, the market appears to be unsatisfied with the earnings, as it sends ASML's stock price plunging in the European market and US pre-market trading. Other semiconductor stocks like $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ , $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)$ and $Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing(TSM)$ which are bellwethers of the semiconductor industry in general and arti
【US Election Series #05】 Major Rotation Begins, How to Handle the Upcoming Market?
Welcome to the fifth installment of Tiger_Academy’s US Election series!First, let’s review the recent market data:Last week, except for a slight decline in the Nasdaq 100, all major global stock indices posted positive returns. U.S. small-cap stocks surged by 6%, and Chinese stocks rebounded collectively, with the Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index up over 4%.
