How Will Fed's Rate Cut Impact Australia and New Zealand?

As New Zealand's inflation rate dropped to 3.3% in July, the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ) announced its first interest rate cut in four years. On August 15, the RBNZ unexpectedly lowered the Official Cash Rate (OCR) from 5.5% to 5.25%. This marks a significant shift from the RBNZ's previous guidance (as recent as May), which suggested that interest rates would not be cut until August 2025.Rate cut cylce already begins in New Zealand! Expect 3+% in 2025?Although inflation is now close to its target range of 1% to 3%, RBNZ emphasized that policy will need to remain restrictive for some time but still predicts that the cash rate will reach 3.85% by the end of 2025.Following the RBNZ's reduction of the OCR, major banks in New Zealand quickly took action to lower mortgage rates, a move tha

TOPkoolgal: 🌟🌟🌟I like $WESTPAC BANKING CORPORATION(WBC.AU)$ as it is the 2nd largest bank in Australia and the oldest, established since 1817. WESTPAC is part of the Big 4 Australia Banks and offers a comprehensive range of banking services. It owns St George, Bank SA, Bank of Melbourne and RAMS brand. WESTPAC 's share price has been on a tear as it has jumped 39% year todate and in 2023, WESTPAC has skyrocketed by 49%. I like WESTPAC' s nice and juicy dividends, which are paid twice yearly. The current dividend yield is 4.58%. WESTPAC has recently hit a 52 week high on September 10 at AUD 32.31. So not only does WESTPAC pay great dividends which are 100% franked, it has been rewarding investors with capital growth as well. Now, that is the kind of stock I would like to invest in. @ASX_Stars @TigerStars @Tiger_comments

With the September FOMC meeting drawing near, bond markets anticipate additional rate cuts in the near future. The market’s attention has shifted from inflation data to the Federal Reserve’s policy moves, especially regarding interest rate adjustments.CPI Data Reveals Cooling InflationThe latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) data shows a moderation in inflation pressures. The CPI rose by 0.2% in August, aligning with market expectations. Meanwhile, the closely watched annual inflation rate dropped from 2.9% in July to 2.5%. Why I think Google Cloud is Sleeping Giant in the AI Race

While recent market movements have seen $Amazon.com(AMZN)$ surpass $Alphabet(GOOG)$ as the fourth-largest company in the $S&P 500(.SPX)$, a closer look reveals Google Cloud's potential as a sleeping giant in the race for AI dominance. While Google's stock price hasn't dipped as significantly as some competitors, the company is undoubtedly facing headwinds. The recent market correction and competition within the cloud computing space are factors to consider. However, Google Cloud possesses a unique competitive advantage - its in-house AI capabilities. Unlike Amazon and Microsoft, which rely on external models like Anthropic and OpenAI, Google has its own AI mo

12 Sep Stock Market Winning Streak Continue

The stock market continued its winning streak with another solid move higher. Stocks closed higher Thursday, with the S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite rising for the fourth straight day, as the market continues its recovery from last week's selloff. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ gained 0.75% and 1%, respectively, while the DJIA added 0.58%. The major indexes have recovered a big chunk of the losses that were recorded last week amid concerns about the health of the economy and volatility in technology stocks. NVIDIA (NVDA) surged 1.92% to $119.14, nearly 16% higher than Friday's close. On the economic data front, weekly jobless claims

It Is Rewarding To Buy And Hold Singapore Bank Stocks

🌟🌟🌟I am super excited that the Singapore Stock Market has hit new highs this week and 2 of my Singapore Bank Stocks DBS and OCBC rose to new 52 week highs on Thursday.  UOB reached its 52 week high in July.  My strategy of Buy and Hold these wonderful Singapore Bank Stocks are paying off! The Market Monitor in my Tiger App alerted me yesterday as $DBS Group Holdings(D05.SI)$  reached its 52 week high at SGD 38.00.  DBS is Singapore's largest bank with a  market capitalisation of SGD 107.58 billion.  It is also Asia's safest bank and have won many awards over the years.   This includes "World's Best Bank" from 2018 to 2022 by Euromoney, " Best Bank in the World" by G

Can Nvidia (NVDA) Restart Its AI-Fueled Surge?

We saw $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ stock rose again on Thursday closed with +1.92%, and it has continued the rise since 10 September 2024. Nvidia has continues to benefit from investor enthusiasm about the company's strong position during the AI boom. We have seen how Nvidia has suffered decline since the earnings growth but the earnings does highlight strong demand for AI chips and Nvidia's prime position as factors contributing to organic sales growth. So far Nvidia's AI-fueled gain has sent it into the $3 trillion market capitalization club, an achievement only previously reached by $Microsoft(MSFT)$ and $Apple(AAPL)$ , in record time. Now the question will be can Nv

Investment Reflection: WBA Call Option Roll-Over Strategy

On 11 September 2024, I executed a roll-over of two contracts of Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) $Walgreens Boots Alliance(WBA)$  call options, extending the maturity date from 27 September 2024 to 25 October 2024. This move allowed me to collect an option premium of USD 23 per contract. This strategy was based on Walgreens’ current challenges and long-term potential, despite its recent difficulties in the market. Market Environment and Rationale Walgreens Boots Alliance has had a turbulent 2024, with the stock losing nearly 68% of its value since the start of the year. The company's dividend reduction—after nearly five decades of increases—highlighted its struggles in a competitive environment dominated by online

Which S-REITs Would Benefit Most From Rate Cut? Look at Analysts' Top Picks!
TOPSR050321: Lesson learned $EC World Reit(BWCU.SI)$ still flat, still suspended. The Reit manager said on Jan 2 that the sponsor had taken out the mortgages without its knowledge and consent. It only learnt about the illegal mortgages from its onshore security agent. Since Jan 5, the manager has taken control of the company and legal representative seals, as well as the contract and finance stamps from the property management teams in China. The sponsor updated unitholders on Jan 15 that a lapse in the approval process resulted in the illegality of the three mortgages. If you think REITS good investment, good PB, EPS, DY, etc etc when problems happened, good PB and EPS couldn't not help. It will become flat. So always invest within your risk limit, do not go crazy because of money. I always consider to diversify, although not profit much, do not loss much either. Wish there is solution for BWCU.

September Effect in Election Years: Will This September Close Up or Down?

Welcome to Thursday Special![LOL]We often hear about the so-called "September Effect" in the stock market. Looking back at the past five years, it seems to hold some truth, but if you widen the scope to over 10 years, the trend isn’t as clear. Below is the historical performance of the S&P 500 in September over the past decade. But what about this year? It’s an election year in the U.S., and elections have been known to impact the market. Here’s something interesting:Since the S&P 500 Index began, there have been 23 election years. Out of those, 19 times (83%) the market delivered positive returns. Here’s the breakdown:When a Democrat was in office and another Democrat took over, the market’s average annual return was 11%.When a Democrat was replaced by a Republican, the average annua
September Effect in Election Years: Will This September Close Up or Down?
TOPShyon: The "election year effect" refers to the historical trend where markets tend to perform well during election years, often due to increased investor optimism and anticipated government stability. However, whether it can "save" this September's market depends on a range of factors, including current economic conditions, political developments, and investor sentiment. If the broader economic and geopolitical landscape is challenging, the election year effect alone may not be sufficient to reverse or mitigate downturns. It's important to consider the overall economic context and market fundamentals alongside historical trends. For me, will it be Trump or Harris, both of them will sure try to boost the market when they get elected, as their first gift to investors.
