ES3 Straits Times Index ETF - My Tactical Bet on Singapore, My Home, My Country โค๏ธ
๐๐๐If I can only invest in one Singapore stock, it would be $STI ETF(ES3.SI)$
STI ETF represents the best and strongest Singapore companies in just 1 trade. It is the bellwether of our Singapore economy, dynamic and vibrant. Singapore is the land of opportunities, strong, politically stable and safe. It is making inroads in Technology, Renewable Energy, Healthcare, Data and Logistics.
The Top 10 holdings include $DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$
OCBC, United Overseas Bank, Singtel, Jardine Matheson Holdings, Capitaland Integrated Commercial Trust, Capitaland Ascendas Reit, Singapore Airlines, Keppel Corporation and Capitaland Investment Ltd.
Top 10 weightage is 69%. Total number of holdings is 30 stocks.
The 3 Singapore Banks take up 42% weightage with DBS in the Top spot at 18%, OCBC at 14% and UOB at 10%. The Banking and Finance sector is Singapore's economic powerhouse followed by Real Estate, Industrials, Consumer Discretionary, Telecommunications Consumer Staples and Technology.
STI ETF is the oldest Singapore ETF listed since April 11 2002. It is also the largest too with Assets Under Management of SGD1, 484 million.
The expense ratio is 0.30%. Dividends are paid half yearly. The current dividend yield is 3.66%. The fund manager is State Street Global Advisors, the 4th largest Fund manager in the world.
Performance wise STI ETF is on an uptrend. It closed up almost 2% yesterday. In the past year, it is up 7%. I bought STI 3 years ago and have held it since then. I am currently up 14%.
At the current share price of SGD3.31, STI ETF offers great value for money compared to buying individual stocks like DBS at SGD 31.87. It is also diversified and minimises my risk on individual stocks. Should 1 stock falls, the impact is less.
Some Singapore stocks have done well especially Singapore Airlines which is up 35% year to date.
STI ETF is also great for new investors who don't know how to pick stocks and also if they have limited capital for investment. I started small and slowly dollar cost average into STI.
As a Singaporean, I am proud to own STI ETF as I believe in the future of Singapore. Best of all I love collecting dividends every 6 months while waiting for capital growth.
Go Long Go Strong Go STI ETF.
