Earnings Digest | Why did Micron's stock plummet?

$Micron Technology(MU)$ released its financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2024 after hours yesterday, corresponding to the performance up to May 30th this year, the stock price dropped by a whopping 7.98%.Two Reasons First, Micron expects fourth-quarter sales to be in the range of $7.4 billion to $7.8 billion, while the average analyst estimate is $7.58 billion, while some estimates are higher than $8 billion. The second is that while the AI computing boom has boosted Micron, demand in traditional markets such as personal computers and smartphones remains sluggish, and the outlook suggests those areas are not recovering as quickly as some had hoped from last year's historic declines. But is that really the case?Looking at the revenue

Why I Am Still Bullish on MU

$Micron Technology(MU)$ investors were hit with a surprise yesterday as the stock price tumbled after their Q3 earnings report. While the company delivered strong results, exceeding analyst expectations for both EPS and revenue, their forward guidance fell slightly short of some estimates. This caused a knee-jerk reaction in the market, but as someone who follows MU closely, I see this as a potential buying opportunity for long-term investors with a focus on the bigger picture. Let's not overshadow the positive aspects of the report. Micron emphatically crushed their Q3 earnings, boasting a significant year-over-year jump in both revenue (82%) and EPS (17%). Their cash flow from operations remained healthy, and their gross margin stayed positive. Th

While a general market correction can't be discounted, several factors specific to Micron are contributing to its recent plunge. This article dives into the reasons behind MU's decline and analyzes the technical indicators suggesting a potentially extended bearish trend. Waning Demand and Excess Inventory: The memory chip market, Micron's bread and butter, is experiencing a period of softening demand. This is Michael.I'll be taking a loss on these $Micron Technology(MU)$ calls I held through earnings tomorrow. I'm taking accountability for it and responsibility for it. And you should too.We made so much money on the ride up that it was okay to risk some calls into earnings. It was all based on the guidance but unfortunately it came it light and weak.Which is strange to me because every AI chip needs MEMORY and better ones too. MEMORY is required for AI to perform well.ImageThis is from there EARNINGS report:$Micron Technology(MU)$ is one of the few providers of high-bandwidth memory chips used in the most advanced AI systems, allowing it to cash in on surging demand for the semiconductors. The company's res

$Micron Technology(MU)$$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$   $MU Alright, we need to discuss Micron Technologies. It’s up 72% YTD. Last quarter, the surprised with a profit of $0.42 EPS when the street expected them to lose $0.26 a share. $793M in profits. They also beat revenues at $5.8B vs $5.3B. What does Micron do? They are a semiconductor stock that designs and manufactures advanced memory and storage solutions. This allows efficient data processing, storage, retrieval, etc. Basically, the more AI becomes a real thing, the more memory solutions we are going to need. That’s why they had a surprise profit last quarter — AI demand is catching up to them and their numbers are showing t
$Micron Technology(MU)$  I started building a position in $MU today in the low $130s (so I’m a little biased) but the stock is simply too cheap especially when you compare it to $AMD. $AMD has a $250B market cap and is expected to do $5.5B of EBITDA over the next 12 months so it’s trading at 45x NTM EV/EBITDA. $MU has a $150B market cap and is expected to do $20B of EBITDA over the next 12 months so it’s trading at 7.5x NTM EV/EBITDA. $AMD better do $8-10B next year in MI-chip sales or the stock will get pounded because it’s wildly overvalued in that scenario. I know that $MU has always traded with a lower multiple because DRAM/SSD is a cyclical business with pricing troughs but HBM in the context of an AI-revolution means higher growth rat

Among the stocks listed, Micron is my top picks. Due to the booming of semiconductor especially AI sector, $Micron Technology(MU)$ is clearly one of the top beneficiary. Similar to Samsung and SK Hynix, Micron high bandwidth memory (HBM) is out of stock for 2025. The incoming quarter earnings and forecasts will be another blast I believe! You may put such strong fundamental stock in your watchlist and consider to open a position especially during the AI theme pullback and correction period. Which is your favourite stock? $Micron Technology(MU)$  Micron growth likely to go hand in hand with Nvidia's as news has come out that GPUs are DRAM hungry as well.  Be it Hopper or Blackwell or Rubin from Nvidia, or Google's TPUs, or Apple's M series chips, or Tesla's Dojo - they will all need DRAM.  Bear in mind memory is very cyclical, capacity tends to get built out in excess, and the glut in supply leads to drop in prices so revenue growth slows.  I think we are still in the ramp up phase so we should see Micron perform well for 2-3 quarters.
$NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$  $Micron Technology(MU)$ $Applied Materials(AMAT)$  All three major DRAM makers—Samsung, Micron $MU, and SK Hynix—are ramping up HBM (high bandwidth memory) production due to strong AI demand. This surge has led Applied Materials to boost production, with orders filling factories at their Taiwan partner, Foxsemicon, through Q2 2025. High Performance Computing (HPC) chip manufacturers, like NVIDIA, are driving this demand, booking advanced process capacity at TSMC. Foxsemicon's revenue is up, reflecting this strong order momentum, and growth is expected to continue into next year.
$Micron Technology(MU)$  LOOK AT WHAT $MU MICRON JUST SAID ON EARNINGS: "Our HBM (High-bandwidth memory product) is sold out for 2025, with pricing already contracted for the overwhelming majority of our 2025 supply." Stock recovering a little but this feels like a dip that may end up getting bought...one of the fears about $MU is that memory storage has been commoditized, but they just said they sold out supply for the next year and contracted out pricing, meaning vendors ended up going with Micron over the competition...

$Micron Technology(MU)$ Earnings beat estimates, but after market price seems to be down, possibly due to profit taking after the amazing rise YTD. But Micron continues to be strong forward looking with a profitable 2025 expected due to HBM for AI, it should rebound and hit $150 in the next few weeks.
