1. @TigerOptions: Apple's Strategic Pivot From Electric Cars to AI

Key Points:

  • The Apple car project, which commenced around 2014, faced numerous challenges, including leadership changes and strategic shifts. Despite efforts to overcome hurdles, the project failed to meet expectations. The recent decision to wind down the initiative comes after discussions on potentially delaying the car's release until 2028 and adjusting self-driving specifications.

  • From my perspective, canceling Project Titan demonstrates Apple's commitment to a pragmatic approach, acknowledging that the project no longer aligns with the company's overarching strategy. As the tech giant turns off the lights on its electric car ambitions, the focus on generative AI projects suggests a forward-looking strategy that leverages Apple's strengths in AI and machine learning.

  • On the stock front, technical analysis indicates that Apple's stock is currently trading near a support level that has proven resilient in recent times. This could potentially signal a substantial bounce. However, caution is warranted, as a retest of the support level may reveal weaknesses in the bounce, potentially leading to a breach of the support level. Personally, I am looking to trade credit spread calls to anticipate the bounce.

2. @Mrzorro: Apple Killed Its Car Project. Tesla's Stock Barely Budged

Key Points:

  • It might be a surprising reaction for some investors who think one of the world's most valuable companies -- that generates roughly as much free cash flow annually as the entire global auto industry -- getting into cars was a big deal.

  • While an Apple car might have been disruptive, it was always a low-probability event. The odds of an Apple car ever hitting roads were always very low -- they might have gone from 10% to 0% on Tuesday. What's more, if an Apple car ever were created it wouldn't have arrived on roads until late in the decade, at the earliest.

  • The reasons an Apple car was a low-probability event are myriad. For starters, automotive profit margins aren't very attractive. Competition is fierce. Most of the value is derived from the hardware portion of the car -- not the operating system. Building cars is also capital-intensive, and the process doesn't lend itself well to outsourced manufacturing.

3. @Samluo: AAPL is killing Project Titan to focus on AI

Key Points:

  • While most investors were skeptical that Apple would actually coming out with a car, the ending of the project ends optionality around a project that would have shifted Apple's top line growth from around 5% to 15% plus.

  • If Apple would have captured 10% of the auto market, that would have added about $250B in revenue a year, or increased their overall business by 60%.

  • While for Apple automotive is a bigger long-term revenue opportunity than generative AI, the decision to move on from Titan does have a benefit because it will increase the companies urgency to do something profound in generative AI.

  • Generative AI for $AAPL will likely come in the form of personalized AI (previewed in June), something that Apple is uniquely positioned to capitalize on given their brand in privacy and security.

well, if the management thinks that it's not worth pursuing, then it's better to not proceed, as otherwise, they may end up losing more.

I respect the top management decision on giving up the EV development. Even though Apple is one of the most valuable companies in the world, but a diversification in a totally new industry doesn't always end up to be a fruitful one. It might be a good decision to avoid further losses in the EV development. However, a shift to AI seems to be more justified as AI is something that can be directly applied to its core products like iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch etc! It seems like we are on the right track now. How do you think? @rL @koolgal @icycrystal @b1uesky @Universe宇宙 @GoodLife99 @Fenger1188

$Apple(AAPL)$ Good move to cut losses instead of dwelling too much.
Sometimes it is better to move on and return to something more innovative and resume to original goal.

$Apple(AAPL)$ the tech giant has decided to scarp its EV cars project. Its presence on the road will remain limited to Apple CarPlay. Apple will concentrate on its AI and research for its next blockbuster product. This is definitely good news to all of us.

the decision to focus on AI is a strategic one made by Apple based on their internal calculations and future vision. Only time will tell if this shift proves to be successful for the company.

no one knows what goes on behind the scenes. the decade long R&D could be sold & brought to fruition by another company. no loss to $Apple(AAPL)$

I simply dont understand why $Apple(AAPL)$ wants to venture into EV cars project when they are well known for iphones and macbook.

To put it in simple layman term. If money is not a concern, most people will fly in style and saftey with $SINGAPORE AIRLINES LTD(C6L.SI)$.When we talk about TV,people will go for Sony.Next will be Sennheiser for headset. The list can go on and on.

Since $Apple(AAPL)$ has conquered the world with their iphones and MacBook, they should continue to improve their features and those die hard fans will continue to be faithful to them.Like a marriage in heaven.

I not a die hard fan of iphone even though i own an iphone. It is company property.Due to the nature of my job, sometimes my colleagues do call me for assistance after office hours.

I answered all my calls as it might be from customers but sometimes, it turns out to be scammers. If i m in the mood, i will have some fun chat with them.In the end, scammers hang up my calls as i drive them up the wall[LOL]

Apple used to be visionary For them to be missing out on AI and falling behind the EV which they’ve been chasing for years just seems so messed up. they should just move on quietly than announcing loudly they have mess up on this and now they gonna move over to that. Silly.

I believe Tim Cook & his team had performed thorough SWOT analysis. Development of EVs could be their weakness as compared to their strength which is on software & viably fastest deployment of AI to the existing or new AAPL phones via web-channel & SWITCH distribution means.
Also AAPL could be seeing EV makers are now either in price-war or scaled back EV productions lately.  To jump on EVs wagon could be a way to hell. Abort EV development could save billions $ from burning as hell noted❗😂

  • apple made the right choice by terminating their car project. $Apple(AAPL)$ , being a late entrant in the saturated EV market with strong competition from well-established Chinese companies like $BYD Co., Ltd.(BYDDF)$ apple could strategically pivot towards prioritizing AI integration in their business strategies. This focus on AI could leverage Apple's historical innovation strengths and potentially disrupt the market, bringing a unique proposition to the industry....

It totally makes more sense for $Apple(AAPL)$ to join the AI party as it has the capability to do so. Albeit a little late. for example look at the VR business.

  • R&D and build a car need a huge fund to do it. Focus on AI will reduce a lot on costing. I feel this is the right path for $Apple(AAPL)$ as R&D and build an EV may affect the P&L. We can see how long the $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ start to make profit.
