šŸ…[Event Recap] How Do Other Tigers Plan to Survive With 10SGD In a Day?

Last week, we launched the 10 SGD survival challenge in Singapore, and many tigers participated, contributing interesting plans. Come and see how everyone is preparing to get through the day on a low budget!

1. Dragon's Super Free 24-Hour Plan @Sherniceč»’å¬£ 2000

Key Points:

2. Wallet Guardian Battle Won but Stomach Capacity Reduced by 30% @Lester00421

(The original article is written in Chinese, the keypoints are translated to English)

Only 10 SGD left! Goal: Survive for 24 hours without starving, without sleeping on the streets, and without being washed away by a heavy rain.

Survival Task 1: Breakfast Ritual:

$1: Trade innocent eyes for black coffee (Kopi-O) + leech Wi-Fi. $0.5: Grab a deal on near-expiry bread at the supermarket, pretend it's a French croissant. Achievement: Money-saving skill +1, stomach capacity -10%.

Survival Task 2: Lunchtime on the Streets

$2.5: Chinese stall mixed vegetable rice (two veggies and rice, small rice with sauce). $2: Malay stall nasi lemak with free sambal, spicy enough to forget about poverty.Survival Tip: Sit next to grandma, you might get fed fruit.

Survival Task 3: Nighttime Struggle

Free 5-star camping site: Changi Airport T3, claim a charging station + enjoy the free cinema. Plan B: Order "hot water" at McDonald's + occupy a seat for 3 hours.

Final Challenge: What to do with the remaining $3.5?

Celebration move: Buy bubble tea ($3) to celebrate survival success! Rational choice: Save money, keep eating mixed veggie rice.

Survival Outcome

āœ… Successfully survived 24 hours! āŒ Side effects: Competing with pigeons for benches, rating mall restrooms, stomach reduced by 30%.

3. One Kiwi's Singapore Survival Adventure @Barcode

Key Points:

Pre-departure Plans: Arrives in Singapore with 10 SGD and plans to charm a local like spacerocket or koolgal for free accommodation using charisma and a sheep-shaped souvenir from New Zealand.

Breakfast ā€“ Kaya Toast: Starts the day with kaya toast for 2 SGD, brings a thermos to enjoy free hot water like a "thrift-store James Bond."

Lunch ā€“ Veggie Rice: Hits a hawker centre for a veggie-rice meal at 3 SGD, adds free soup to complete the meal.

Afternoon ā€“ National Library: Spends time at the National Library for free air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and phone charging, all while pretending to read.

Dinner ā€“ Fish Ball Noodles: Has fish ball noodles for 3.5 SGD, leaving 1.5 SGD for tomorrowā€™s adventures.

4. Cook at home! All by herself @koolgal

Key Points:

Cooking at Home: Best way to survive: cooking at home for a balanced diet of protein, carbohydrates, and fibre.

Meal Plan

Breakfast: Boiled egg, toast, banana, and milk.  Lunch: Indomie with fishballs, cabbage, and tofu.  Dinner: Spaghetti Bolognese with minced beef, tomato sauce, and iceberg lettuce, plus an apple for dessert.

Would you invite one kiwi @Barcode to spend a day in your home? Maybe the budget may be lower if two you eat together?

5. 10 SGD Challenge: A Collection of 3 Plans @Mrzorro

1) You can buy a loaf of bread for 2.50 and a drink at NTUC for 2.50 and eat for the whole day only cost you 5 dollars.

2) 2 meals ( brunch and dinner) at mcd for saver meal at 5sgd each. Totall 10sgd.

3) walking around at Chinatown for free meals (porridge) by visiting the temples such as Budha tooth relic temple, Indian temple , etc. If you want to pay , you can also have a good value set ( 2 vege 1 rice for sgd3) at Budha tooth relic temple. lunch and dinner for sgd6 (from 7am-5pm)

4) You can also have cheaper meals for mixed vege rice at 2.50-3sgd at the hawker place. 2.50 sgd chicken rice at kopitiam or small shop near mrt also have.

5) Visiting a nearby public library will be a good choice to have a rest with air conditioning and reading books.

I had survived like that before. Those are my experiences. How you use 10 dollars depends on yourself.

6. @Shyon

If I only had 10 SGD to survive 24 hours in Singapore, Iā€™d go for the ultimate value-for-money feastā€”no half-measures, just pure efficiency.

First, Iā€™d head to FairPrice and grab a whole roasted chicken for just 6 SGD. Thatā€™s a full protein-packed meal that can last two to three meals if rationed wisely. Pairing it with a loaf of bread (2 SGD) gives me some carbs to stay full throughout the day. Roasted chicken and bread?

With 2 SGD left, Iā€™d treat myself to a big bottle of Coke, because letā€™s be honest, surviving on water alone is a bit too hardcore. This way, Iā€™ve got a full stomach and something refreshing to sip on throughout the day.

For the rest of the challenge, Iā€™d chill in air-conditioned spaces for freeā€”places like the library or malls offer free WiFi and comfortable seats. If I really needed variety, I could swap the bread for instant noodles or rice, but the roast chicken strategy guarantees maximum satisfaction.

7. @KKLEE

Singapore is expensive, but can you last a day with just $10? Itā€™s tough but possible!

Breakfast ($2.50): Start with kaya toast and coffee at a hawker center.

Transport ($1.50): Walk more and take just one MRT or bus ride.

Lunch ($3.00): Grab chicken rice or economy rice.

Free Activities ($0): Explore Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay, or Chinatown.

Dinner ($3.00): Enjoy a bowl of lor mee or porridge at a hawker stall.

Itā€™s a challenge, but with careful planning, you can stretch every dollar. Would you try it?

8. @MHh

Key Points:

Morning:  Kopi O kosong for SGD $1.20 and kaya toast for SGD $1.50 at a kopitiam. Enjoy slowly like a $10 latte, savoring every bite.

Lunch: Have chicken rice at a hawker center for under SGD $3.50. Ask for extra chili to feel like a spice connoisseur.

Evening: Return to hawker center for Nasi Lemak or Fried Bee Hoon (~SGD $2.50). Enjoy free entertainment at the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre.

Night: Visit Changi Airport for free attractions like the butterfly garden, koi pond, and indoor waterfalls. Be selective with attractions to avoid extra costs.

Budget Tip: For a simple day, transport and meals (instant noodles, simple bread) can stay under $10, relying on free snacks and water.

The top 5 tigers each received 200 Tiger Coins, while the tigers ranked 6th to 8th received 100 Tiger Coins. All other participating tigers received at least 10 Tiger Coins.
