【Events】What to Do When the Stock Market Crashes
Hi Tigers
How do you make money when a stock is falling? Leave a message in the comments section of this post, and you will win Tiger Coins.
Stocks fell on Wall Street Wednesday after inflation slowed last month but still came in worse than feared. The S&P 500 was 1.65% lower after waffling between gains and losses in early trading. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 326 points, or 1.02%, at 31,834, and the Nasdaq composite was 3.18% lower as tech stocks weighed down the broader market.
However, even in a volatile market, there are certain investors who have made money by shorting stocks, buying put options, or trading futures, to make money rather than lose it.Churchill once said, "Never let a good crisis go to waste." This remark was made in 1940 at the beginning of World War II. As investors, we should look for the silver lining and take advantage of the market's crisis mode.

Warren Buffett has said "Be greedy when there is Fear in the Market". So when the stock market crashes it is time to get greedy and go on a bargain hunting spree. "
A good example is when Covid 19 pandemic hit Singapore in March 2020, DBS was trading as low as 19.00. If you had bought DBS then, you would have made a huge profit at the last closing price of over 31.00.
Another important point is not to put all your eggs in 1 basket but instead Diversify into different classes of assets - shares, bonds, gold, real estate and even Cryptocurrencies.
Finally the most important thing to do is to stay calm and not panic sell. Instead allow the magic of compounding to happen over time with good quality stocks like Apple, Microsoft and Alphabet. That way there will be a pot of gold waiting for us at the end of the rainbow.

Alot of people said stock market is like a roller coaster, see saw or yoyo, always goes up and then goes down again and again. It always repeat in cycles. Therefore, when stock market crashes, do not get panic as we know that the stock market will definitely go up again and It is just a matter of time. If we are holding alot of spare cash, this is the good time to buy alot of good dividend stocks and diversify our portfolio. If we don’t have spare cash, then we will just have to wait patiently for the stock price to go up then sell our stock. Keep the spare cash from the transaction and wait patiently for the next cycle when the market is down to buy.
The above is very easily said but not alot of us is able to follow because we don’t have the patience to wait and capture the good opportunities. But I will still try my best to follow after going through a few painful lessons by selling the stocks below the cost price to cut losses.
Stay calm and identify opportunities. Time to pick up good companies at value prices. The main limiting factor is availability of cash!Be prepared to enter in multiple tranches and get used to seeing a red sea. Red is the new norm[Chuckle]
Or DCA, a suggestion.
