The spotlight will shine today on Lisa Su, CEO of AMD as she takes centrestage to report AMD's 3Q22 earnings. AMD closed 0.67% down today at 59.66. AMD has also plummeted by 60% year to date from a euphoric high of 164.46.
The main concern is the slowdown in the PC markets. AMD has slashed its Q322 revenue guidance by USD 1.1 billion to USD 5.6 billion. It expects year over year revenue growth of 29% instead of 55%. However the growth in data centres is up by 45% and gaming by 14%. These 2 sectors account for 40% of AMD's revenue.
AMD is also facing headwinds of the recent ban by US of high end chips to China, high inflation, slowing global economy and the strong US Dollar.
I predict AMD to close down in the reds today after its earnings report. Its share price is testing 59 amidst the Bearish sentiments in the market.
However at P/E ratio of 25.09, AMD is a strong buy as it has substantial growth potential ahead. Short term pain, long term gain.
