I think social media will definitely miss too. Social media companies mainly draw revenue from advertising. With rising inflation, companies will start to look for ways to cut costs. Usually it advertising would be one of the first costs to be cut. With reduced spending on advertising, I suppose social media companies will be hit hard.

Likely the semiconductor, entertainment, and tourism sectors may miss the analysts' expectations due to the high living cost and stagnant salary, which cut down the unnecessary expenses, but focus on those "need" and "must" have items to go thru this difficult time.

$MU novices should not confuse ulta short term price action on MU as having lasting significanc. After msft/txn results a large amount of shorting took place and the trading cartel squeezed those ill timed shorts early today. And after STX's HORRIBLE news this am, as well as the channel checks I do, the actual fundamentals for MU is DETERIORATING, not improving. As such, before tax selling season is over , I continue to see the highest probability of MU shares trading lower.$Micron Technology(MU)$

Definitely the electronics sector. The export restrictions to China that was recently being imposed by US will have a very negative impact on all electronics companies, such as Applied Materials, AMD, Intel and Nvidia etc. The impact is so big that even companies on the downstream will be affected negatively such as AEM, UMS, Venture and Nanofilm etc. Those restrictions will give greater pressure on the US economy as revenues go down.

Electronics, Clothes and Retail are all part of the Consumer Discretionary Sector.  These are products that are considered non essential by consumers.  In fact while these products are considered desirable, the consumers will only buy them if they have sufficient money to do so.  However with high inflation and rising interest rates, the Consumer Discretionary Sector has plummeted 35% year to date and recorded the maximum decline among all the S&P500 sectors.  The S&P500 Index itself has only dropped 20% year to date. I believe that all 3 components of the Consumer Discretionary Sector will miss earnings expectations.   Under Electronics, companies like Apple and Nvidia will be affected by the strong US dollar which makes their exports more expens

$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$probably the retail sector will miss expectation too. Lots of uncertainty and inflation is going up. People will save more for the coming winter days. But Q4 could see a ray of hope cuz holiday season is coming. People will spend on themselves and their family.

$Tesla Motors(TSLA)$i think most companies would miss earnings like Tsla. Because of the major market and inflation and interest rate. Ithink we can expect lower sales etc. Especially due to the supply constraint, i think most companies would not do well on earnings. Moreover, many companies are laying off in the US. I think technology sector will be in trouble, media too. Just look at snapchat. any company using ads like twitter would be in some trouble. netflix was lucky cause they just started to use ads for revenue. Well, i would say you can't predict, some companies may just surprise you, so just Dollar cost average, do not trade. Unless you are a pro. Do share your thoughts on which sector or company do you think wi

I believe that after $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$, electronics sector will underperform in Q3 earnings season.   A negative trend in terms of prices and lead time extensions is still observable. Components continue to be on allocations and delays in deliveries commonly. However, global signals of slumping demand mainly in the consumer electronics sector and thus signals of easing constraints in the supply chain of semiconductors are becoming more common. Nonetheless, these signals do not refer to all components and the signals do not yet translate into tangible and visible improvements, shortening of the lead times or higher availability. For many key manufacturers it is still rather the opposite.

      Expect Electronics Sector to Underperform

I believe that electronics sector will underperform in this earnings season, as many people has accelerated the renewal of their electronic devices during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, as work and study from home were the default work and study modes. People were forced to upgrade their electronic devices to improve their productivity for remote works and studies, that they would otherwise have deferred for a couple of years if the old devices were still working and not due for replacement yet. Hence, many do not feel the need now to replace these relatively new electronic devices soon. Furthermore, with global economy heading into a downturn on the back of an increasingly hawkish Fed determined to rein in the surging inflation even at the expense of triggering a recession and i
