The wild ride of Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker $VinFast Auto(VFS)$ which launched through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) on Aug. 15, rose 40% on Aug. 25 and another 19%% on Monday, bringing its market capitalization to nearly $175 billion.

Some reporters are comparing VinFast’s fast launch to those of $Rivian Automotive, Inc.(RIVN)$  and $Lucid Group Inc(LCID)$  Others are comparing its market cap to those of other carmakers.

There is nearly no public float. Only 0.3% (or 7.17 million) of the company’s 2.307 billion shares are traded. The remaining 99.7% of the shares (2.30 billion shares) are held by entities that are wholly owned by founder and chairman Pham Nhat Vuong. Effectively he controls 99.7% of the shares, according to the SEC filing.

Tiger community investors have both praise and criticism for VinFast Auto, with some experiencing a 69% gain and others experiencing a 193% loss.

Tiger Trade now supports these option trades, allowing traders to leverage their bets on the rise of the price. It is noteworthy that the premiums for put options, as well as the implied volatility, are high.

    🌟🌟🌟$VinFast Auto(VFS)$  is like the Fast and Furious kind of stock.  It has jumped a massive 255% on its 1st day of IPO but today it has skidded down 43%. This is due to the fact that its Founder Pham, the richest man in Vietnam owns 99% of shares leaving only a tiny 1% available to the public.  So the high demand has led to high volatility leading to a massive rally. 

    VinFast is the 1st car company in Vietnam and has a lofty goal to become a major global EV player.  It aims to provide quality EVs with great value and hopes to take some market share from Tesla.    

    It is still early days whether it will succeed as it has a uphill climb ahead.  It aims to have its factory in US to start producing by 2025 to qualify for the USD 7500 tax credit. 

    VinFast cars uses BMW engines and the design is Pininfarina, Italian based. 

    For now, I prefer to stay clear of VinFast but if it is able to achieve its goal in the future, it may just be the next Vietnamese Tesla!

    I did not trade  $VinFast Auto(VFS)$ . I will watch the show and stay aside first from this way. The surge is way far beyond my expectation. I believe the heat wave might be over soon. It's not worth to have entry now unless you can trade very well technically. I expect a pullback around 40-50% from the peak, somewhere near 50 USD, as my first target price.<br>

    $VinFast Auto(VFS)$ is another stock I think can be compared to  $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ stock when comparing volatility  [Gosh] [Gosh] [Gosh] can sky rocket and can deep dive in an instant. unlike  $Tesla Motors(TSLA)$ this stock (in my opinion) has not made its mark in the market. so am staying away from this stock. meanwhile, on the bright side, am sharing this stock that am holding which is still gaining some profits for me [smile] [smile] [smile]

    Did not trade $VinFast Auto(VFS)$. I dont know how could it be listed with 99% with founder and only1% float! Its just not justifiable!! Anytime pump and offload to retailer slowly and surely. U will see eventually… only time will tell… i will not touch it or even see the stock . Hopefully can do block list 🤭🤭🤭
