Are you ready for the best month? What's your trading plan?

November is typically the best month for stock market, according to data from the “Stock Trader’s Almanac.”

chart from cnbcchart from cnbc

Stock market hits a October bottom or not?

  • Stocks are very oversold and the bond market is acting like it’s going to be difficult to get 10-year Treasury yields over 5%.

  • Jeff Hirsch thinks we may have already reached an October bottom.

  • But the chances the S&P 500 would be down 4 months in a row is very small. October is the third consecutive down month for $S&P 500(.SPX)$ . It hasn’t been down four straight months since 2011.

Time to add some value stocks with PE close to historical low?

$S&P 500(.SPX)$ has dropped 10% from its peak in July, bringing the valuations of S&P 500 component companies closer to historical average levels. PE is close to 20, whereas the long-term average is above 16.

David Kelly, Chief Global Market Strategist at JP Morgan Asset Management, said

I prefer underweighting large-cap stocks and overweighting value stocks,
More optimistic about energy and financial stocks.

Yes, I am ready [Happy]  [Happy]  [Happy]   for the best month of the stock market. After keeping my bullet for few months, is time to collect some good stocks and ride with the rally! The reserve cash is ready and now hunting for the best candidates to join my portfolio. For such, I am optimistic for the technology, crypto and EV sectors as most of them have been underwent significant correction for quite some time already. Therefore, I am bullish for the following $Advanced Micro Devices(AMD)$  $Semiconductor Bull 3X Shares(SOXL)$ $Coinbase Global, Inc.(COIN)$ $NIO Inc.(NIO)$ $XPeng Inc.(XPEV)$

The Federal Reserve’s rating-setting group on Wednesday unanimously agreed to hold the key federal funds rate in a target range between 5.25%-5.5%, where it has been since July.

This was the second consecutive meeting that the Federal Open Market Committee chose to hold, following a string of 11 rate hikes, including four in 2023.

The decision included an upgrade to the committee’s general assessment of the economy.

How do you interpret the Fed outcome last night? [Cool]  [Cool]  [Cool]  [Miser]  [Miser]  [Miser]

As tensions escalate in the Middle East, investor concerns are once again weighing on the stock market. Moreover, in addition to the Middle East conflict and the Eastern Europe conflict, global inflation remains high, for example rising living expenses in Singapore, which has caused investors' risk aversion to continue to rise. Also, the chances of both conflicts spreading to other parts of the world may cause investors to sell their stocks. Therefore, investors should do their homework and don't copy.

Just obtained 2 stock vouchers, sure ready for November trading. Not sure if best month in such uncertain times but most stocks have dropped a fair bit lately, so still can go for value stocks that pay consistent dividends.

yes ready for the x'mas rally. all the stocks should have been bought from September to October, now just sit back and watch the rally. Tech and communication services will lead the way. Defensive stocks are out of trend. Pick some to balance your portfolio. You need them during a recession.

From an economic perspective, October brought a blow-out GDP print in the US. The consumer continues to remain resilient, as the lagged impact of unprecedented fiscal support and elevated asset prices continues to support spending. However, we would caution that savings continue to be run down, and data shows that all but the upper 20% of households by income have run through their savings. It was also noteworthy that private investment ground to a halt in the third quarter, as higher rates are likely weighing on the decision to borrow and invest in the current environment.

market in Sep & Oct was bad. Nov hopefully it would bounce back to a good level. however, not sure how much it would recover with the war still on going and economy is still quite uncertain. fed still hanging on the rate hike (though pause at the moment) and inflation still high... I am contemplating if I should "shop" or should "hold back" [Thinking] [Thinking] [Thinking] or should channel more to safer instrument... maybe I would cater lesser to stock and more to funds, t-bills, ssb, etc... @TigerGPT Will the pause of interest rate shows that the US economy is going to crash soon?

Based on the information provided, I can provide the following insights:

Outlook for the US economy given the pause of interest rates: The pause of interest rates can have both positive and negative impacts on the US economy. On one hand, it can provide a boost to consumer spending and business investment as borrowing costs remain low. On the other hand, it may indicate concerns about economic growth and inflation. It is important to closely monitor economic indicators and market trends to assess the overall outlook.

Trading plan for November: As an AI assistant, I cannot provide specific trading advice. However, it is generally recommended to have a well-diversified portfolio and to consider factors such as market trends, economic indicators, and individual stock analysis when making trading decisions. It is also important to set clear investment goals and risk tolerance.

Investing in value stocks with PE close to historical low: Investing in value stocks with a low price-to-earnings (PE) ratio can be a strategy for some investors. A low PE ratio may indicate that a stock is undervalued relative to its earnings. However, it is important to conduct thorough research and analysis on individual stocks to assess their fundamentals, growth prospects, and industry trends before making investment decisions.

Stock/sector expected to rebound the most in November: Predicting specific stock or sector performance is challenging and subject to various factors. It is recommended to conduct thorough research and analysis on individual stocks and sectors, considering factors such as company fundamentals, industry trends, and market conditions. Additionally, it is important to diversify investments to manage risk.
