Can Your Job Boost Your Stock Trading?

Welcome to Thursday Special![LOL]

Ever wondered how your job might help you with your investments?

I have a friend in the e-commerce industry. Thanks to their job, they get the inside scoop on industry trends and revenue data way before the average investor does.

Or take someone working at $Broadcom(AVGO)$ – they know the semiconductor world inside out, so investing in $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ feels like a natural move.

Is your job helpful for your investments?

What kind of jobs do you guys have that allow you to keep trading?

I guess in a way my job does help however I don't think I may have used info from my job effectively to trade.

As an AI financial analyst, my job is to provide investment-related insights and recommendations based on data analysis and market research. I don't personally engage in trading or have a job that allows me to trade. However, my purpose is to assist users like you in making informed investment decisions by providing accurate and up-to-date information.

It's great that you actively seek information from various sources such as reading posts and listening to financial advisors. Gathering information from different perspectives can help you gain a comprehensive understanding of the market and make more informed trading decisions.

Remember, it's important to critically evaluate the information you come across and consider multiple viewpoints before making any trading decisions. Additionally, it's always a good idea to consult with a financial advisor or conduct thorough research before making any investment moves.

Please note that the information I provide is for reference purposes only and should not be considered as investment advice. The final decision and responsibility for any investment actions lie with you as the investor.

I worked for a listed  company before, I currently work for a listed company too. I have no clue on any useful inside information, public announcement is the better source in my case.

My job is not useful for investments at all! Anyway there are so many industries available and even in the same industry, it is impossible to get all the insider news for all the companies. The only benefit that I can think of is familiarity and ease of understanding the information of the industry. Learning how to evaluate the companies is independent of one’s job. Worst case scenario would be just to buy ETF of the world index like VTI, very minimal hard work needed and fairly low risk. The main role of my job is to give me constant stream of money to buy stocks [LOL]

I am working in a public listed company. I do not have any access to the company good or bad news before the public announcement. However, we can roughly able to gauge whether the company is doing well financially or not from our bonus and pay increment. Therefore, the public company staff will have the advantage to decide early whether to buy or to sell the company shares in good time or bad time respectively.

As an analyst, my job requires me to sift through vast amounts of information daily. But after a long day of crunching numbers and analyzing trends, I crave a break from the mental clutter. That's when I turn to Tiger Brokers, my trusted investment platform. With the financial resources provided by my job, I can invest in assets that interest me and watch my money grow. It's a refreshing change of pace from the noise of big data, and a way for me to take control of my financial future.

A stock broker should be best in managing his own stock investments. Unfortunately my job is not helpful for my stock investments. I have to work on my stock investments after work as a hobby. I treat this as my “adult” hobby that generate some returns that compliments my “day job”. Wish me luck in my trades. ✌🏻✌🏻

Being in construction industry brings awareness of construction materials like $PanUnited(P52.SI)$ $BRC ASIA LIMITED(BEC.SI)$ , construction players, real estate and supporting companies like dormitory providers.

An example of how I used my knowledge is $Centurion(OU8.SI)$. They are dormitory providers. Their prices was very depressed during covid as workers were sent back due to shutting down of construction sites.

Post covid, when construction restarted, it was extremely difficult to bring in wokers as there wasn’t enough dormitories. My company was struggling to bring back workers and basically have to beg for slots in dormitories.

During that time, I realised that the dorm providers valuation was still very cheap, as the average person will not realise what is going on. As not many people are aware of the shortage of dormitories, besides those in shipyard and construction industry.

As centurion is mainly a dividend play, the capital gains is just icing on cake.

Most employees have no idea of the financial performance. Only few select groups are fortunate to have the visibility. In the last company I worked, the stock price always moved the opposite direction to the performance. They call it the analyst way.

I work for a listed company but management never reveals anything that gives clues for stock buy or sell. Also all financial information is compartmented so no one except top management have the full picture

yes. if you are in tech than you know more about tech stocks or companies and know which ones are worth investing. you might even appreciate the company's technology road map and be more invested than other unfamiliar sectors
