PM Wong in China: Are Humanoid Robots Going Mainstream?

Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong visited Beijing and Tianjin from June 22 to June 26 at the invitation of the Chinese government. This marks his first official visit to China since taking office as Prime Minister, and also his first overseas visit outside of ASEAN since forming the new government.

On the morning of June 23, Prime Minister Wong toured the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center.

Inside the exhibition hall, a wide variety of humanoid robots showed off their impressive capabilities:

  • Household robots with flexible arms sorted fruit and cleaned tabletop trash.

  • Hyper-realistic robots featured delicate human-like facial features, lifelike expressions, and realistic tones of voice.

  • Another robot, equipped with tools, inspected automotive parts with both speed and accuracy.

But the biggest crowd-pleaser was the humanoid robot that could play soccer. "Great shot! It’s in!"

During a robot soccer showdown on the fourth floor, one robot performed a precision kick and raised its robotic arms to celebrate the goal. Two robots even fiercely battled over the ball, with the sound of metal clashing echoing through the room.

Humanoid robots are also among this year’s trending meme stocks.

$Richtech Robotics(RR)$ and $PALLADYNE AI CORP(PDYN)$ saw massive spikes in January. Tesla has also bet heavily on robotics, and $Serve Robotics Inc.(SERV)$ is a robot-themed stock with NVIDIA among its investors.

Robots even made a humorous appearance at this year’s Chinese Spring Festival Gala, showing off some dancing moves.

Are you hoping Prime Minister Wong’s visit to China will lead to new collaborations?

Are you bullish on the robotics sector? Which robot-related stocks do you find promising?

Do you think robots can become as widely used in daily life as ChatGPT?

Or feel free to recommend some robot-themed TV shows and movies!

    🌟🌟🌟Singapore's Prime Minister Lawrence Wong just made waves in China, not only with  handshakes but with vision.  PM Wong's visit wasn't the standard diplomatic tour.  It marks Singapore and China's 35 years of diplomatic ties.

    This visit was a tech powered move aimed at forging deep AI and  Robotics collaboration.  From visiting Beijing's Humanoid Robot Innovation Centre to signing fresh bilateral agreements, PM Wong made it clear -  Singapore is ready to embrace an AI and Robotic future.

    The Robotics sector is heating up, and projected to surpass USD 73 billion by 2029.  Singapore's partnership with China could ignite  new ventures across smart manufacturing, healthcare and even home robotics.  That is not just bullish, it is rocket fuel for innovation.

    The age of AI powered collaboration is officially underway.

    China is the first country Mr Wong visits outside of Southeast Asia after becoming Prime Minister. His visit will certainlead to more new collaborations. His tour to the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Center shows China’s humanoid robots are overtaking the U.S.. $Siasun Robot&Automation Co.,Ltd.(300024)$ is the largest Chinese robot company with great potential. Prime minister Wong’s visit to China has to lead to new collaborations. Singapore has a small market and it is open to the international markets, making it very susceptible to any market volatility. With trump as the president and the new tariffs imposed has made Singapore realised that she can no longer fully depend on the US and needs to establish more friendships and collaborations with other countries to ensure her survival.

    Robotics are the future and im bullish on it. However, I would prefer to take more time to try to identify the winner or await an ETF rather than betting on a single stock.

    I don’t think robots will be as widely used as ChatGPT for the commoner as it definitely is more costly and given the variety of robots out there will mean that more people will need more thought to buying one. However, I think we can expect to see the increased usage in various industries if they prove to be more cost efficient and useful in an increasingly labour tight market.

    The robotics sector will have its ups & downs, just like any other sector rotation cycle. More important is: Did u catch the up cycle [Helpless]...I didn't [Sigh]. Robots will slowly take over some parts of our jobs, [Cry] [Cry] [Cry], it's an unfortunate thing 😢 as labour will be stretched in the future ( Most ppl will like to do the "Easy Job" isn't it 😉)... There are already Robots deployed in the F&B sector, that try to cook out local dishes like Fried Rice, Hokkien Noodles etc. They are Great Help to the owners [Happy].  Robots will definitely be widely used in the future in our daily life. The only question is will Robot go Rogue like Terminator [LOL] [LOL] [LOL]. The Robots are killing Humans [OMG]😭🤕.... Time will take 😉 But it won't be Arnold Schwarzenegger or Linda Hamilton to save the Day [Chuckle]

    Singapore is already actively testing humanoid robots for the application in security and high risk tasks. Full autonomous deployment is expected around 2029. There are many other areas where these humanoid robots can replace human workforce.

    no. humanoid robots are inefficient af for anything. elon is just hopping on every buzzword tech like a junkie on drugs to keep his name in the press so that he can prop up his failing business to his simps. humanoid robots are generally used as ** measuring contests between nations.

    黄循财总理首次以新加坡总理身份访华,专程走访“北京人形机器人创新中心”,这一动作我觉得不仅仅是象征性的外交礼节,更像是提前为未来新中之间的科技产业协作布好棋局。说实话,我很期待这次访问能够促成更实质性的合作,比如新加坡引入中国的人形机器人技术,推动在医疗护理、城市服务或老龄化社会中的实际落地。

    我个人是长期看多机器人板块的,尤其是在AI大模型逐渐成熟、硬件成本不断下探的大趋势下,人形机器人从“概念片段”正逐渐变成“生活场景”。你看,过去AI只是跑在云端的算法,而现在,它正在有“形”的载体上动起来。

    如果你问我现在关注哪些相关股票,我会分几个角度来讲:
    • 上游零部件方面,像是日本的SMC、德国的Festo,以及中国的绿的谐波(Harmonic Drive)、埃斯顿(Estun)等,掌握的是“关节”和“肌肉”的核心;
    • 中游集成与系统平台,波士顿动力虽然还未上市,但它母公司软银旗下还有Arm,间接受益;
    • 终端品牌,不得不提的是Tesla的Optimus,虽然还在初期阶段,但一旦走向规模化,它可能重演Model 3的成长路径。此外,中国的优必选、Unitree Robotics等,也开始向“消费级人形机器人”迈进。

    至于你问我“机器人会不会像ChatGPT一样进入日常生活”?我认为会,而且时间点比我们想象得更近。ChatGPT让人类习惯了“虚拟助手”,而下一步,人类将习惯“实体助手”在家里扫地、陪伴老人,甚至是协助教学。最关键的是,AI已经不再只是语义理解,而是开始具备视觉、听觉和空间运动能力,这才是机器人时代真正开启的标志。

    如果你想更感性地理解机器人未来,我非常推荐一些剧集和电影:
    • 《Westworld》(西部世界):AI与人性边界的深度探讨;
    • 《Ex Machina》(机械姬):关于AI意识觉醒的冷峻思辨;
    • 《Her》(她):不是机器人,但它用情感方式呈现人与AI的共处;
    • 《Real Steel》(铁甲钢拳):机器人从工具到伙伴的过程,很温暖。

    总的来说,我对机器人行业充满信心,也相信黄总理此行能为新加坡带来更具战略意义的科技合作。我们正站在一个巨大转折点的前夜,AI从“无形”变“有形”,人类的生活方式也会彻底被重塑。

    They are pretty fast-paced!
    Hope Singapore can catch up..
    Otherwise, there should be collaborations with the more advanced china hopefully..

    Even a blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles [Victory]

    I'm happy to speak to chatgpt or other ai daily but to speak to robots daily (and get their response), it's hard to say unless I have experienced them myself..

    Have you ever read about people in china mall beating up the robot🤖 just because that robot was not giving him the expected answer?

    End up this person was so upset and annoyed until lost his cool with the robot [Facepalm]
    And that would be one expensive damage [LOL]
