  • U.S. stock index futures were slightly lower early on Thursday morning, as the S&P 500 prepares to wrap its worst first half in decades.Futures contracts tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average shed 0.23% or 71 points. S&P 500 futures slipped 0.29%, while Nasdaq 100 futures were down 0.33%.Duringregular tradingthe Dow advanced 82 points, or 0.27%, for the first positive day in three. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite both posted a third straight negative day, declining 0.07% and 0.03%, respectively.
  • On the economic data front, weekly jobless claims will be in focus Thursday. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones are expecting 230,000 first-time filers. Personal income and spending data will also be released.
  • On the earnings front Constellation Brands and Walgreens Boots Alliance will post quarterly updates before the opening bell, while Micron is on deck for after the market closes.$Micron Technology(MU)$

  • Oil prices edged higher on Thursday after dipping in early Asian trade, as concerns about global supply tightness outweighed a build in U.S. gasoline and distillate inventories.Brent crudefutures for September, the more actively traded contract, rose 63 cents, or 0.6%, to $113.08 a barrel at 0250 GMT. The less liquidly traded August contract, which expires Thursday, was at $116.08, down 18 cents, or 0.2%.U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crudefutures climbed 49 cents, or 0.5%, to $110.27.$Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund(XLE)$
  • Gold was mostly quiet on Thursday, but faced its worst quarter since early 2021, as a remarkable showing from the dollar kept investors away, with bullion’s outlook clouded by top central banks adopting aggressive tactics against stubborn inflation.Spot goldwas flat at $1,817.07 per ounce by 0339 GMT.U.S. gold futuresedged up 0.1% to $1,819.70.Gold prices, set to drop for a third straight month, have fallen about 6.2% this quarter.
