Monday Afternoon Market Recap

• The positive momentum for global stocks lookedset to continue on Monday, after theDow Jones Industrial Averageclimbed 2.7% on Friday, and both theS&P 500andNasdaq Compositeadded more than 3%. The pan-EuropeanStoxx 600index, meanwhile, jumped by 2.6% on Friday, its best day for more than three months, andcontinued its riseon Monday.
• As the leaders met in Munich, Germany, for the latest G-7 summit, U.S. President Joe Biden took to Twitter to confirm earlier reports of an imminent ban.“Together, the G7 will announce that we will ban the import of Russian gold, a major export that rakes in tens of billions of dollars for Russia,” he said.
• Technology investor Prosus NV will tap its huge stake in $TENCENT(00700)$ to fund a stock buyback in itself and parent Naspers, the Dutch firm said on Monday.The move is aimed at closing a gap between the market value of Prosus/Naspers and that of the 28.9% stake in Tencent they own, which is currently worth about $136 billion.
