In addition, you have the chance of winning 100 Tiger Coins.Fourth-quarter earnings season kicks off this week with the major US investment banks set to report and provide their outlooks on the economy heading into the end of the year.$Citigroup(C)$, $Wells Fargo(WFC)$,$Bank of America(BAC)$ and $JPMorgan Chase(JPM)$.

When analyzing bank earnings, it is important to remember that banks make money in three ways: net interest margin, trading, and fees from services such as investment banking and asset management.

Currently, the rising interest rate environment could help some banks increase their net interest margin, since they are now charging more for any new loans and credit products they are approving. In addition, non-performing loans (NPLs) are increasing at the same time, as borrowers are unable to repay their outstanding credit as interest rates increase.

Over the past few weeks, inflation has come down and the U.S. Federal Reserve is expected by some to pivot to a less aggressive stance. There is optimism that this will not be a long-lasting recession, and that pressure on the consumer from inflation and interest rates will ease.

Even if this outlook proves to be overly optimistic, it is still expected good results from the banks, with decent earnings and attractive dividend yields. It’s uncertain whether it will be seen dividend increases, however, as banks wait to see how steep the economic slowdown will be. Trading revenues could be down due to declining markets, but it is expected to see a bit of a pickup on that front on the holiday season. U.S. Big Banks Q4 Earnings Are Coming. Here’s What To Expect

I voted $JPMorgan Chase(JPM)$! I believe in Jamie Dimon’s leadership. Jamie Dimon has been with the company for over 20 years and has a track record of successfully navigating the bank through economic downturns and industry challenges. My money is on him!

🌟🌟🌟The US Banks are the bellwether of the US economy.  So a good earnings report from the US Banking Giants will be great news for the economy.

      I vote $Bank of America(BAC)$

as it is the most undervalued of the US Banks.  Its share price has dropped 30% in the past year and has the greatest upside potential.  Wall Street Analysts are also bullish with 24 of them saying it is a Buy with median target price of USD 39.25, a 15% potential increase.

Bank of America is also Warren Buffett's largest Bank stock investment.

Bank of America is expected to post quarterly earnings of 83 cents per share, up 1.2% and Revenue is expected to be USD 24.3 billion, up 10.2% from previous year quarter.  Over the last 4 quarters Bank of America had beaten consensus EPS estimates 3 times.

The current dividend yield is 2.58%.

I believe that Bank of America share price will jump after its earnings report this Friday.

Voted $JPMorgan Chase(JPM)$ JPM is the largest US bank. Its share price is up +1.44% since 3 days ago to USD&138.10. Analysts expect JPM to report a decline in earnings on higher revenues when it report results for the year ended December 2022. JPM is expected to post quarterly earnings of USd$3.16 per share, which represents a yesr-on-year change of -5.1%. Revenues are expected to be USD$33.94 billion, up 16% from the year-ago quarter. A positive Earnings EPS is a strong predictor of an earnings beat. For the last reported quarter, JPM was expected to post earnings of USD$2.96 per share when it actually produced earnings of USD$3.13, delivering a surprise of +5.41%. JPM has beaten Wall Street’s expectations two times over the last four quarters. Looking at JPM’s share price increase now & its popularity among institutional funds, i expect JPM to beat earnings expectations this time again. JPM will be the biggest winner because it benefited immensely from increase in interest rates.

I voted for $Citigroup(C)$ as it offers the most attractive PE ratio, having been the most sold down among US global banks, as Citigroup has been battered by its regulatory oversight resulting in hefty fines and loss of market confidence, mishaps such as the Revlon blunder and its most significant exposure to Russia among US banks. Nevertheless, the legal case against Revlon’s creditors which had refused to return Citibank over $500 million that the bank had mistakenly wired has been amicably dismissed after a favourable ruling by the appeals court for Citigroup. As the bank rids itself of unprofitable businesses to focus on wealth centres that generate the highest profitability for the bank, I hope that Citibank will soon return to its past glory.

I voted JP Morgan. JPM, are to kick start fourth-quarter 2022 earnings  this Friday, Jan 13, is likely to have benefited immensely from higher interest rates. A decent lending scenario is also expected to have supported the company’s net interest income (NII).

As the Federal Reserve continues to raise rates, banks would be expected to see their net interest income rise in Q4 2022. But the earnings impact from higher rates isn't quite that simple. As rates rise, so do banks' costs on deposits. In addition, the increased cost of money has put a damper on new stock and debt issues as well as mergers and acquisitions, businesses where Wall Street banks that traditionally earned hefty fees. And with inflation raising wages and other costs, the estimates for banks' Q4 earnings are mostly lower than the year-ago results. Analysts have also been lowering their earnings estimates for Q4 more than they've been increasing them.

$Citigroup(C)$ then $Bank of America(BAC)$. Citigroup handles most fx (is that right) & just signed a €300M deal in Dublin for a new european headquaters. Can’t be doing that bad imo if that’s the latest…

🇺🇸 banks are expected to report lower quarterly earnings as risks of a recession rise due to monetary policy tightening. $Goldman Sachs(GS)$ has began laying off staff in a sweeping cost-cutting drive which isn’t good news for banks. As such, I voted for $Wells Fargo(WFC)$ as it was the biggest winner during earning last quarter. Thanks loads @Tiger_Earnings for this discussion topic❣️
