[Weekend Topic] Have you ever lost sleep over stock trading?
It is said that different types of investors have different sleeping postures.
After trading stocks, how is your sleep at night?
Regular investors sleep on their backs, seemingly enjoying good sleep quality.
Quantitative traders sleep on their sides, appearing to have something on their mind.
Professional traders sleep face down, possibly because they are wiping tears with their pillow.
No stop-loss traders cannot fall asleep, staying awake until dawn.
Have you ever had trouble sleeping while trading stocks?
It might be because you bought a stock you don't understand, worrying about whether it will fall;
Or maybe you've heavily invested in stocks, exceeding your psychological tolerance;
Or perhaps you've become a bag holder, tossing and turning at night, wondering whether to cut losses.
How is your sleep at night?
Which kind of sleeping position and trading type do you belong to in the chart?

🌟🌟🌟Sleep is one of the 3 most important things to live a healthy life apart from good nutrition and exercise. It is easy to lose sleep over losses in the stock market especially when it is a big position. I must confess that I lost some sleep when the Hong Kong markets hit new lows recently but when I ask myself is it worth it? The answer is crystal clear.
Nothing is worth losing a good sleep not even big losses in the stock markets. Life is too short to worry incessantly about things. That's why I have invested in ETFs which offer me the diversification and power of many stocks at a low cost and the best part of it is I get to collect regular dividends.
One of the best remedies to sleeplessness is to mediate and being grateful for all the good things in my life. It can be as simple as having a loving family, appreciating the safety and comfort of my home, laughing at the antics of my dog. In contrast when I think of people in war torn countries like Ukraine and Palestine, I am so grateful that I am in Singapore.
That's how I am now able to get better sleep irregardless of what challenges life may put in my way - just by counting my blessings. 😍😍😍🌈🌈🌈🍀🍀🍀

well, all of the above [Sly] [Sly] [Sly]...
I think when it comes to investing, one will need to have risk management which is one of the most important aspects...
do not trade aggressively, always within limits... this way, you can have a good night sleep...

I invested stocks using my warchest and those money that I am willing to lose. For those who have been reading my post, I paper lost USD 5 figures for my China UT. I m still keeping them as those were my profits from my US ESPP stocks. [Smile] I m still waiting for the right time to sell my US ESPP stocks. No hurry as I still have my warchest to buy SG stocks for dividends. Planning for the future.[USD]
The only thing that caused me sleepless night is by having coffee or tea after 2pm, work stress & late night teleconference(I hate winter time! [Anger][Sad]). Whereas, when the market is down and I dont have external factors impacting me, i will acquire more stocks. If it drops further, I still sleep well as i paid my justifable price. 🍀🍀

During sleep, our bodies go through different stages, including light sleep, deep sleep, and rapid eye movement (REM) sleep. Each stage plays a role in different aspects of our sleep cycle, such as physical restoration, memory consolidation, and dreaming.
Options is a totally different story. Technically i can automate my orders to fill, but my current option strategy requires decision making especially when i roll options or converting stocks to options. Hardly the type that i can just ignore and automate. Hence, i am losing sleep, as i usually monitor us market open for 1 hour before making decision with regards to option.
Day light savings is definitely not helping. Us markets open at 10.30pm sg time. I monitor until 11.30pm, decision making usually around 1hr. Prep to sleep 1 hr. I sleep around 1am on most nights… [Cry]
或許我已經大量投資在股票中,超出我的心理承受能力;
或者我已經成爲一個包夾夜裏輾轉反側,不知是否要減少損失。
