💰 Survive a Day in Singapore with Just 10 SGD! Can You Do It?!

In Singapore, one of the world’s most expensive countries, can you survive for 24 hours with just 10 SGD?

Here’s a challenge shared by a netizen on how to make the most of 10 SGD:

🍞 8:00 AM | Kaya Warrior Strikes: 2 SGD
For 2 SGD, two slices of crispy kaya toast are secured. The secret? Bring your own thermos to fill with free hot water.

🥬 12:00 PM | Hawker Center Economics in Action: 3SGD
At the mixed rice stall in the hawker center, two vegetables and rice for 3 SGD. Focus on high-water-content ingredients like winter melon and cabbage, and leverage free soup to fill up.

📚 3:00 PM | Air Conditioning Capitalization: 0 SGD
Head to the National Library to enjoy the "three free essentials": air conditioning, WiFi, and charging outlets.

🍜 7:00 PM | Noodle Showdown: 3.5 SGD vs. 5 SGD
Fish ball noodles (3.5 SGD) and economic fried rice noodles (5 SGD) engage in a price battle. The solution is to employ a dynamic balance strategy—eat noodles on odd days and rice noodles on even days, using time to save money and meet the budget.

💰 Hardcore Player Bonus
An extreme saver shares their survival plan: a 3.5 SGD large bread plus free water dispenser = a 24-hour survival meal. But the opposing view is just as loud: "Going out in Singapore without 50 SGD is like going into battle without armor!"

🌟🌟🌟Even though Singapore is one of the most expensive cities in South East Asia, it is definitely possible to survive with just SGD 10 a day for food.  It is a good exercise in being mindful on how we spend our money and also makes us appreciate how lucky we are to live in Singapore.

The best way to survive on just SGD 10 is to cook at home .  I believe in having a Balanced Diet of Protein, Carbohydrates and Fibre.

For breakfast I would have a boiled egg and toast  followed by a serve of banana and milk.  I would cook Indomie with some fishballs with some cabbage and tofu.  For dinner I would have some home cooked spaghetti Bolognese with some minced beef and tomato based sauce plus a small serve of iceberg lettuce.  I will complete the meal with an apple for dessert.

Cooking at home is more nutritious and save lots of money.  On a working week day , I sometimes pack my left over home cooked meals for work .  I drink lots of water throughout the day which is my favourite way of hydration.

Surviving with just SGD 10 a day is not a difficult task if we want to do so with some advanced meal planning and prudent shopping.

In real life, go easy on the luncheon meat and canned stewed pork ya. Loads of harmful nitrates and nitrites.

$10 a day is possible - just take a heavier brunch (which covers both breakfast and lunch) and dinner either prepared at home or from the friendly neighbourhood coffee shop downstairs☺️❤️👍 @Tiger_SG @Cctan

Ultimately, it's your choice. A big loaf of bread, with Singapore government approved healthier choice, and a 1 liter milk should cost less than $10. I personally can survive 2 days (easily) from this combination. So it's your life, make your own choices.

If I only had 10 SGD to survive 24 hours in Singapore, I’d go for the ultimate value-for-money feast—no half-measures, just pure efficiency.

First, I’d head to FairPrice and grab a whole roasted chicken for just 6 SGD. That’s a full protein-packed meal that can last two to three meals if rationed wisely. Pairing it with a loaf of bread (2 SGD) gives me some carbs to stay full throughout the day. Roasted chicken and bread?

With 2 SGD left, I’d treat myself to a big bottle of Coke, because let’s be honest, surviving on water alone is a bit too hardcore. This way, I’ve got a full stomach and something refreshing to sip on throughout the day.

For the rest of the challenge, I’d chill in air-conditioned spaces for free—places like the library or malls offer free WiFi and comfortable seats. If I really needed variety, I could swap the bread for instant noodles or rice, but the roast chicken strategy guarantees maximum satisfaction.

Meals alone within $10 possible. Add housing loan, management fees, utilities, WiFi, car, taxes etc., $10 a day is impossible.

$10 a day is not possible for food and basic transport + lodging. Unless you tell me you want to live in the park, beach or Changi Airport, all of which are illegal.

WOW 😳 $10 💰 for 24hrs... [Thinking] I will get a packet of Nissin Oats Granola at an offer price of $9.10 per 500g from NTUC Fairprice. (Disclaimer: Not promoting Nissin, but I do like these oats, alternative is Calbee but only when they are on offer [Chuckle]) . It should last more than 24hrs. Drink water 💦😋. Air-conditioning... either the Library or Shopping malls [Chuckle] [Chuckle] [Chuckle]. @Jes86188 @新美股神 @Gis @Aqa

My usual weekday starts with eating my breakfast at home ($1.78 local farm lettuce) and drink water. Go to office for work, lunch time I would eat in office canteen $3.40 (rice with 2 vegetables 1 meat) and bring along my water bottle to refill water from dispenser. On the way back home, dinner with husband (sometimes he treats me, sometimes I treat him) at one of the coffeeshop near our home $4.50 noodles. Go home drink water.

Singapore is expensive, but can you last a day with just $10? It’s tough but possible!

Breakfast ($2.50): Start with kaya toast and coffee at a hawker center.
Transport ($1.50): Walk more and take just one MRT or bus ride.
Lunch ($3.00): Grab chicken rice or economy rice.
Free Activities ($0): Explore Marina Bay, Gardens by the Bay, or Chinatown.
Dinner ($3.00): Enjoy a bowl of lor mee or porridge at a hawker stall.
It’s a challenge, but with careful planning, you can stretch every dollar. Would you try it?

On workdays, I eat oats at home. For lunch used Koufu app or timbre app to get 10% discount. Fishball noodle around $5. For dinner Cai fan can keep below $5 as I am in a mature estate.

Definitely can survive a day in Singapore with just 10 SGD if eat simple meals at home, hawker centres, coffee shops or eateries.  E.g. Soya bean milk with youtiao $1.50 breakfast, nakhon thai style horfun $4 lunch, Caifan $4.50 dinner (take own water). If lazy, just cup noodle/porridge will do <$2.

Intermittent fasting, eating only 2 meals between 11am to 7pm. Good for health too. Cook 3 scrambled egg for the first meal and instant coffee. About $2.
2nd meal, eat food court rice, tofu and cabbage. $4.
Still have $4 left for in between black coffee at food court.
Suggestion to camp in library is a fantastic idea.
