There is no best age to retire.. but one would want to retire as early as possible so that we can enjoy life more..
In order to do that, we have to make sure we have enough to support ourselves and even our family till the very end.. so it is imperative that we have some form of passive income.. that can come in the form of property rentals.. dividends.. investment capital returns.. etc..
We can start by estimating how much we need monthly taking into account inflation and how long we are projected to be alive with somebuffer.. that would give us an estimated capital we need.. then from that.. we can determine what is the best way to generate that amount..
Retirement is not about fading into the sunset but having a zest for discovering new horizons, exploring new cities and having the time of our lives!
My goal is FIRE - Financial Independence Retire Early. My game plan is to set a budget to save and invest carefully, keep my expenses low and look for ways to boost my income.
In investing for retirement, I seek an income focused portfolio, balancing dividend and growth stocks and treasure hunting for high quality stocks. High quality stocks are those with strong balance sheet, ample free cash flow, high profit margins and high returns on invested capital. It is also important to have a diversified portfolio in different classes of assets to minimise risks.
Retirement planning takes time to plant, grow and flourish but with patience and determination, I know I will succeed in FIRE.
As Warren Buffett said, "Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago."

My goal is to reach financial freedom rather than retirement. I will be free to do what I like and be able to travel around the world when I like. This pandemic has added many uncertainties. It is best to be able to do what we like now.
To achieve that, it is best for us to diversify our portfolio such as stocks, real estate, insurance, fixed deposits and even cryptocurrency (though volatile) to make our money work harder than us. Doyou agree with me?

Invest in stocks that one knows for capital gains and dividends. No specific age that is best for retirement but must be financially secure for peaceful retirement.
No magic amount on what is sufficient. The bare minimum is sustenance and must have adequate insurance coverage.

Best way to invest for retirement? Slow & steady into blue chippy and dividend yielding...specifically defensive type namely national banks, dividend kingz & quality reits
Y? Because passive income via dividends able to ease one mind to some extend...giving sense of security and incentives of diamond hand during bear market. Sgx dividend stock not subjected to taxation ( only local citizens)
Saving: well i just follow the 5:3:2 ratio as much as i can.. Shifting the 3:2 during bear/ whenever have extra cash. No point aim a fixed value since inflation gonna made it pointless... (in 90s,1plate chicken rice how much? Fast-forward 30years admist chicken shortage) also life goal will always change based on lifestyle/status change/unfortunate events etc.. So just stick to a ratio that works well with you.
diversification is key. real estate, bonds, stocks, CPF and cash.
no amount is enough if you don't understand contentment.
INVEST INTO HIGH 7 TO 8% YIELD REITS ...PUT MONEY INTO CPF TO REAP HIGH 5% COMPOUNDING INTEREST
