🎁Is it safe to buy SVB now or is this just a 'dead cat bounce'?

Shares of $SVB Financial Group(SIVBQ)$ and $Signature Bank(SBNYL)$ started trading over the counter on Tuesday after Nasdaq delisted the stocks.

SVB Financial, now changing hands under the ticker (OTC:SIVBQ), was 99.8% lower at the time of writing, Signature Bank stock was also down some 99%.

What is OTC?

There will be some Tigers who will ask how to trade them following the delisting of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank.

OTC stands for Over-the-Counter, which refers to the trading of financial instruments, such as stocks, bonds, or currencies, directly between two parties without the involvement of a formal exchange.

In an OTC market, the parties involved negotiate the terms of the trade, such as the price and quantity of the financial instrument being traded, privately and without the need for a centralized exchange. This is in contrast to exchange-traded markets, where buyers and sellers transact through a centralized exchange and follow standardized rules and procedures.

OTC markets are popular for trading in less-liquid assets, such as small-cap stocks or corporate bonds, and for complex financial products, such as derivatives. Moreover, it can also provide trading liquidity quotation services for securities that do not meet the requirements for listing on the U.S. stock exchange or NASDAQ.

$SVB Financial Group(SIVBQ)$ and $Signature Bank(SBNYL)$ now switch into OTC Markets. A few brokerages offer OTC trading, including Tiger Brokers. You can buy or sell OTC stocks at Tiger Brokers if you want. The OTC Markets U.S. is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm Eastern Daylight Time (GMT-04:00).

There are also risks associated with the OTC market, such as counterparty risk, lack of transparency, difficulty in price discovery, and lack of regulation. Make sure you are aware of the relevant risks before trading any stocks.

I feel that investing delisted $SVB Financial Group(SIVBQ)$ and $Signature Bank(SBNYL)$ in an Over-the-Counter (OTC) market is too risky. I still prefer to invest In a money centre banks where its borrowing and lending activities are with governments, large corporations and regular banks. Four examples of large money centre banks in the US include Bank of America, Citi, JP Morgan and Wells Fargo. Hopefully the share price of $Bank of America(BAC)$ will recover soon after the crisis in the banking sector is over.

The collapse of Silicon Valley Bank happened swiftly as a result of multiple points of failure. Heavy balance sheet losses matched with depositor jitters led to a bank run. SVB is a unique U.S. bank in that they cater to the venture capital community like no other bank in the U.S. According to Axios, 44% of all venture-backed tech and health care IPOs were banking with SVB in 2022. In 2021, that number was over 50%. SVB was THE bank for venture capital, which means many depositors had accounts well over the FDIC's $250,000 threshold.

I still thinking trading $SVB Financial Group(SIVB)$ and $Signature Bank(SBNYL)$ is risky move. Bank stock nowaday dropped a lot such as my holding $FNCB Bancorp, Inc.(FNCB)$. Hopefully it can recover soon.

🌟🌟🌟It would seem that the Bull is back after a scary March when there was a bank run and the collapse of SVB and Signature Bank.  The US indexes closed higher today.

However inflation is still high and the Feds are still intent on quelling it.

Nonetheless I believe that the markets are off to a great start for April and another earnings season will be here in a few weeks.

Being a Singaporean, I believe in the future of our vibrant economy and the 3 Singapore banks are the bellwether of our financial markets.  My favourite bank is $DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$ and I intend to hold this long term.  DBS is the winner of numerous awards including the World's Best Bank for 5 years running and the safest bank in Asia.

With a wide moat, rock solid balance sheet and an excellent management team, I believe that DBS will continue to grow exponentially in the long term and I am proud to own a little part of it.

It is nice to have $Tiger Brokers(TIGR)$   to offer OTC trading for Tigers to unload their $Signature Bank(SBNYL)$  and $SVB Financial Group(SIVBQ)$  stocks, as the risks associated with the OTC market, such as counterparty risk, lack of transparency, difficulty in price discovery, and lack of regulation, may not be suitable for most of the Tigers here.

Also, do scrutinize all the banks and don't lose your precious by getting into another rabbit hole again. [OMG]

    Come and comment, Tigers.

I was wondering what is OTC in the past when I was trying to trade $BYD Co., Ltd.(BYDDY)$!

Now looks like clear for me to trade through OTC but will not go for both banks mentioned as I have no confident for such volatile stocks but will consider for $BYD Co., Ltd.(BYDDY)$ ! [smile]

personally, I don't think it's a good idea to trade delisted stock as the risk would be greater. better to stick with established companies with proven track record. can have peace of mind [Grin] [Grin] [Grin]

Too risky to touch both banks. I would stay far away from them. For bank stocks, ok to buy any of the SG top 3 banks if dont want to go through the hassle of currency exchange. The dividends are great and higher chance of getting capital gain too!

I think it's too risky to trade delisting stocks, wrong timing and the shares will be worthless, I would rather stick to good companies, although paying more but the companies constantly generating revenues

Not safe for me this bank is bank run victim, pity the bank, but many reason customers loss confidence, so we cant do anything, just take care our local banks. Any bank can collapse if suddenly everyone take money out at the same time. Bank is not printer, they just work on the money you keep with them so they can give you better interest. If no banks, i cud not imagine a house full of cash 😅

$SIVBQ recorded a massive gain of +142% & $SBNYL rose by +36% on Wendnesday, OTC shares got hundred thousand dollars beating. Yardeni Research's chief analyst said U.S. bank stocks had bottomed and it's a good time to buy. What's your thoughts of it? 🎁Comment or share your positions if you trade bank stocks. 🔥
