Software Sentiment Crumbles
Software SentimentSoftware sentiment is incredibly low at the moment - and rightfully so. Q1 earnings have been a disaster, and they’ve gotten worse as companies with April quarters started reporting. Nearly 70% of software companies who reported Q1 with an April quarter end guided Q2 below consensus! That figure is worse than the onset of Covid when everyone guided low because they weren’t sure if the world was ending! Of the companies with March quarter ends ~51% guided Q2 below consensus. That figure is still quite bad, but the environment in software land definitely got worse in April. What’s a bit more confusing, is despite the Q2 guide downs, full year guides haven’t come down that much, and in some cases have been raised. May 2024 update
May 2024 is good month for me too, about 3% profits. Thanks for HK index and some dividend stocks raised. I have sold little position to lock profits. Dividend investors have been hit hard by rising interest rates and the current market environment. But I've stuck with it, continued adding position in the down turn if I have idle cash. From beginning of Fed rate hikes to now(2022-2024), I got positive ROR, collected 30k dividend Singapore Dividends are not taxed at a personal level. The SG market has a low PE ratio. Market Outlook of S&P500 - 03Jun24 Observations: The MACD indicator has completed a top crossover and we should expect the down trend to continue. Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) has crossed the zero line in the middle which implies an uptrend. There is more buying volume than selling. For the index to drop, the selling volume needs to be more than the buying volume. Moving Averages (MA). Both the MA50 line and the MA200 line are on an uptrend. The last candle is above both the MA 50 line and the MA 200 line. Thus, it could be read as bullish for the long term and the mid-term. With the current trend, the candle should cut the MA 50 line soon. Exponential Moving Averages (EMA). The 3 EMA lines are on an uptrend. The lines are converging and should do so in the coming days.
