On August 6, French track and field athlete Alice Finot set a record-breaking performance in her event at the Olympics and proposed to her boyfriend afterward.
She had promised herself before the race that if she ran under nine minutes (nine being her lucky number and they had been together for nine years), she would propose.
After the race, Finot kneeled on the track and proposed to her boyfriend, Spanish triathlete Bruno Martinez Bargiela. The pin she wore during the race, engraved with "Love is in Paris," expressed her true feelings.
