About Emperador Inc.

Emperador (SGX: EMI) is the second regional spirits company to be listed on the SGX, after Thai Beverage (SGX: Y92), Thailand’s largest bottler and distributor of whisky and rum.

It is primary-listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange and secondary-listed on Singapore Exchange on July 14, 2022. Emperador joins the STI on Sept 19, 2022, taking the number of stocks representing the Consumer Non-cyclical Sector to four.

Emperador Inc. (EMI) is a global spirits conglomerate owning some of the most iconic and best-selling brandies and whiskies. EMI owns Emperador Brandy, the world's #1 brandy by volume. It also owns Whyte and Mackay, the 5(th) largest Scotch whisky producer, and Bodegas Fundador, the first and oldest brandy de Jerez.

Emperador’s portfolio of world-renowned brands includes Fundador Brandy, The Dalmore, Jura, and Tamnavulin Single Malt Scotch whiskies. The products are available in more than 100 countries across the globe.

Emperador raised its international profile in 2014 when it acquired Scotch whisky maker Whyte and Mackay, which was divested by United Spirits after a takeover by Diageo to satisfy antitrust concerns. It then purchased Spanish brandy and sherry wine assets, giving the company a toehold in Europe and Latin America.

Latest Financial Performance 3Q2022

The company posted a 11% year-on-year revenue growth to 42.6 billion pesos for the first nine months of 2022, driven by growth across the group’s whisky and brandy segments.

The Whisky business is a consistent outperformer driven by increasing popularity of its single malt brands. It Brandy sales got a boost from the further easing of world travel restrictions and increased in trade activities.

The group’s net profit was marginally lower at 7.2 billion pesos compared with the previous year's 9M earnings of 7.3 billion pesos, down 1%. Margins are weighed down by higher input cost such as raw materials and freight. Increase in advertising and promotional (A&P) expenses also contributed to the lowering of margins.
