Was Selling option strangles in may. During may drop, sold call options made money. sold Puts tt were itm, were rolled for premium
I am not a "Sell in May and Go Away" type of investor. I am more of a "Buy and Hold" investor. The US markets were down in April with more than 12% decline for the S&P500 year to date. It was the worst start for US stocks since the end of World War 2. There was surging inflation, the Ukrainian war, rising rates, high oil prices and other risks overwhelming the markets.
Against this backdrop of headwinds, I am thankful that my May performance is not in the red. In fact my Nasdaq performance shows 1.02% increase. This is due to investing in plain vanilla ETFs like $SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 ETF(SPLG)$ , and $SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 Value ETF(SPYV)$ . My star performer is $Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund(XLE)$ which is up 50%.
Despite all the market turmoil, I remain optimistic and hopeful as I know that the market will always recover especially since my horizon is long term.
