About Emperador Inc.
Emperador (SGX: EMI) is the second regional spirits company to be listed on the SGX, after Thai Beverage (SGX: Y92), Thailand’s largest bottler and distributor of whisky and rum.
It is primary-listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange and secondary-listed on Singapore Exchange on July 14, 2022. Emperador joins the STI on Sept 19, 2022, taking the number of stocks representing the Consumer Non-cyclical Sector to four.
Emperador Inc. (EMI) is a global spirits conglomerate owning some of the most iconic and best-selling brandies and whiskies. EMI owns Emperador Brandy, the world's #1 brandy by volume. It also owns Whyte and Mackay, the 5(th) largest Scotch whisky producer, and Bodegas Fundador, the first and oldest brandy de Jerez.
Emperador’s portfolio of world-renowned brands includes Fundador Brandy, The Dalmore, Jura, and Tamnavulin Single Malt Scotch whiskies. The products are available in more than 100 countries across the globe.
Emperador raised its international profile in 2014 when it acquired Scotch whisky maker Whyte and Mackay, which was divested by United Spirits after a takeover by Diageo to satisfy antitrust concerns. It then purchased Spanish brandy and sherry wine assets, giving the company a toehold in Europe and Latin America.
Latest Financial Performance 3Q2022
The company posted a 11% year-on-year revenue growth to 42.6 billion pesos for the first nine months of 2022, driven by growth across the group’s whisky and brandy segments.
The Whisky business is a consistent outperformer driven by increasing popularity of its single malt brands. It Brandy sales got a boost from the further easing of world travel restrictions and increased in trade activities.
The group’s net profit was marginally lower at 7.2 billion pesos compared with the previous year's 9M earnings of 7.3 billion pesos, down 1%. Margins are weighed down by higher input cost such as raw materials and freight. Increase in advertising and promotional (A&P) expenses also contributed to the lowering of margins.

🌟🌟🌟I like to invest in wide moat companies and are currently holding $THAI BEVERAGE PUBLIC CO LTD(Y92.SI)$ and $Endeavour Group Ltd(EDV.AU)$ because these 2 alcohol beverage stocks have strong brands and high pricing power. They are both profitable, have a solid balance sheet and pay great dividends.
Thai Beverage 's current dividend yield is 3.31% while Endeavour Group' s dividend yield is 4.28%.
I am looking to add $Emperador Inc.(EMI.SI)$ too as it is a global market leader in Brandy and Whisky. However its current dividend yield is only 1.62%. Nonetheless Emperador has great upside potential as its share price has been on an upward trend since its IPO last year. It is currently up 11% in the past year.
All 3 alcohol beverage companies are in the Consumer Defensive sector which will weather the volatility in the markets better than most. I also like that they are in different geographical locations for diversification in my portfolio.

$Emperador Inc.(EMI.SI)$ is a leading high-growth international spirits company with a deep portfolio of globally recognised, market-leading whisky and brandy brands distributed in over 100+ countries. This is a good opportunity to invest in the beverage industry! [Miser]
Hopefully I can win the prize [Bless]
as compared to heavy liquor, i will prefer to put money in companies such as $Boston Beer(SAM)$ $Constellation(STZ)$ $THAI BEVERAGE PUBLIC CO LTD(Y92.SI)$ who also produce beers as they are generally cheaper and more popular worldwide.

🌟🌟🌟The word Emperador means Emperor in Spanish or Ruler of an Empire. $Emperador Inc.(EMI.SI)$ is indeed the Emperor of Brandy being Philippines' largest liquor company and the world's largest brandy producer. Emperador is also the purveyor of the world' finest whisky when it acquired Whyte & Mackay in 2014 too.
Brandy and Whisky are 2 very special world famous drinks, popular globally. It is the epitome of Good Living and Celebrations.
I am bullish on Emperador as it ticks all the core fundamentals of a quality stock. It has a wide moat due to its extensive distribution network and market share. It is certainly profitable and has a strong balance sheet. It also has an excellent a management team under Dr Andrew Tan, one of the richest men in the Philippines.
Emperador is also a Consumer Defensive stock, impervious to economic cycles with exponential growth ahead as premiumisation of its products will ensure its profitability long term.

Emperador became the first Philippine Stock Exchange-listed company to have a secondary listing on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) when it started trading mid-this month.
Emperador is now the second regional spirits company to be listed on the SGX, after Thai Beverage (SGX: Y92), Thailand’s largest bottler and distributor of whisky and rum and an “old boy” of the Straits Times Index (STI).
There is much alcohol and beverages peers listed on sgx . the closest stock to compare is thai beverage which trades at 14 compared to Emperador at p/e : 33 .

LVMH distributes alcohol brands like Dom Perignon, Hennessy, and Cheval Blanc which have seen their demand growing over the years until the pandemic which restricted social gatherings.
With border reopening and resumption of social gatherings and holidays, I believe that the demand for alcohol will poise for strong recovery of growth. This is helped by growing popularity of alcohol investment by collecting rare wines and liquors.
Hence, I look forward to investing in Emperador and attemding its coming webinar to partake in its long-term growth story.

I like their "CPI" strategies :
1) CONTEMPORIZE offering
- Excite customers with innovative new product launches
- Rebrand and reposition key brands
- Improve brand visibility amongst millennials and Gen Z
2) PREMIUMIZE portfolio
- Leverage iconic portfolio of globally recognized marquee brands
- Focus on single malts (which contribute to c.70% of our branded Scotch Whisky business)
3) INTERNATIONALIZE business
- Expand globally into key focus markets targeting >50% of sales and profits outside the Philippines by 2025
- Key focus on North America and China
It will be a LONG 🚀 position if I own this stock for long terms. Good luck 🤞
Warren Buffett said in his letter, "Buy commodities, sell brands," when he mentioned why he likes Coca-Cola.
This is exactly what beverages companies do, including $Emperador Inc.(EMI.SI)$ . That's why they can sustain a high profit margin and strong financial performance. This stability can provide investors with a reliable return on their investment, as it is considered to be a recession-proof industry.
Beverage alcohol is a popular product worldwide, and there is a strong market demand for it. There is also potential growth in international markets to increase its market share.
Lastly, the beverage alcohol industry has been experiencing a trend towards premiumization, where consumers are willing to pay more for high-quality products. It can help to increase margins and profitability if the company manages to position its brand as premium.
