META: Who Gets Paid When AI Shops For You?

The interesting part of Muse isn’t the chatbot. It’s the checkout. $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$  says Muse can increasingly act on a user’s behalf — finding products, making bookings and completing transactions. The company plans to take a small fee from transactions, creating a completely different monetisation model from traditional advertising. And that creates a new fight over the customer relationship. 🛒 Retail: Shopify has opened its merchants to Muse through Shop Pay, while Instacart is bringing its grocery infrastructure into the experience. ✈️ Travel: Expedia is coming to Muse, meaning travel could become another area where the agent sits between the customer and the booking platform. 🚫

I think Muse’s per-transaction cut mainly hits the shopping site entry point. Not just payment — it touches the moment someone decides what to buy and where. That’s where Amazon and other retail giants are strongest. If Muse becomes the first screen for shopping, it starts eating into their product discovery and ad money. Payment is affected too, but Meta is partnering with Stripe, PayPal and others, so that entry point is less directly threatened. For small businesses, I actually see potential. They can’t outbid big companies on ads. If an AI agent recommends based on product fit instead of ad spend, that could help them. But it’s still too early. The main issue is trust. I personally don’t trust Meta. I won’t give it all my info. If users don’t trust the agent, none of this works. Also,

🔥 The AI Shopping Battle Isn’t About Search Anymore Meta’s Muse announcement got me thinking about something bigger than another AI feature. What happens when we stop searching and shopping ourselves? Today, if I want a flight, I might Google it, compare a few sites, check Expedia and then book. If I want groceries, I open an app, build a cart and hit checkout. But an AI agent could eventually do most of that for me. I could simply say: “Find me the cheapest flight that gets me there before 6pm.” Muse does the searching, compares the options and potentially completes the transaction. That changes the game. The interesting part isn’t just Meta potentially taking a transaction fee. It’s who owns the customer relationship. If the AI agent becomes the layer between me and the retailer, the ret

What Meta actually announced Meta Connect opened on Wednesday with $1,299 VR glasses, camera-free smart glasses, and the first real answer to the question everyone has been asking about Muse: how does it make money? The answer is a toll. Meta says Muse will be free for a large number of tokens, and over time it expects to profit by taking a small fee on transactions. It hasn't said how big the fee is. There's also a subscription layer, with monthly plans from $20 to $100 above a free option. At Meta Connect, Zuckerberg said Muse could eventually make money by taking a small fee from transactions it completes for users. The exact fee hasn’t been disclosed yet. $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$  slipped 0.63% to $736.60 on Tuesday after jumping 11.43% the previous session. At first glance, that looks like simple profit-taking ahead of Meta Connect. But there’s a more interesting story underneath. Muse is becoming the centre of the conversation — yet some of the biggest stock moves are happening in the companies connecting to it. Muse has reportedly climbed to the top of the U.S. mobile download charts, while Shopify jumped more than 7% after integrating its Shop Pay checkout with Muse. Shopify had gained almost 15% across the two sessions. That creates an interesting investment question: 🧩 Is Muse an app — or a platform? If consumers start using Muse to search, shop, book and complete tasks, the v

Why did Meta slip the day before Connect? A +11% day, stretched technicals, and how I'd approach it with sell puts Written Wednesday morning SGT, using Tuesday's US close. First, a bit of perspective "Meta fell" sounds dramatic, but look at the size of the move. If users increasingly tell Muse “find me a hotel and book it” or “find this product and buy it”, fewer commercial journeys may begin with a Google search, followed by sponsored links and comparison shopping. That does not mean Google's business is immediately threatened. Muse still needs partners, merchants and payment infrastructure to complete transactions. But the bigger question is whether the AI agent becomes th

META BUILT THE AI. SHOPIFY GOT THE POP. WHY?

🔥 Muse Isn’t Just an AI Assistant — It Wants a Cut $Meta Platforms, Inc.(META)$   just added an interesting twist to the AI race. At Meta Connect, Zuckerberg said Muse could eventually make money by taking a small fee from transactions it completes for users. The exact fee hasn’t been disclosed yet. Muse is already being connected with services including Expedia, Instacart, Shopify and PayPal. And this is where it gets interesting for investors. If I ask Muse to find me a flight, order groceries or buy something online, the traditional journey changes: Search → website → browse → checkout could become: Ask Muse → Muse decides → Muse buys That potentially puts Meta between the customer and the company making the sale. Amazon is alr
