October effect or rebound? How do you trade in Oct.?

$S&P 500(.SPX)$ and $NASDAQ(.IXIC)$ lost % and % in the past month. The yield on the benchmark 10-year bond climbed higher to hit a fresh 15-year high of 4.643%.

After the upset September, are you ready for October Effect?

The October effect is the belief that stocks tend to decline in October, often linked to historical crashes like Black Monday in 1987. September has seen more market declines historically.

Analysts expect more losses till the year-end?

According to the poll by Reuters,

A majority (71%) of analysts anticipate a correction in their local equity markets by year-end.

Surprising stock surges in May-July coincided with strong economic performance, but concerns about underperformance persist.

High money market rates, higher U.S. Treasury yields, and expectations of continued elevated rates contribute to the correction sentiment.

Some contrarian investors see it as a buying opportunity.

At what price will you bottom big tech?

Tech giants also dip much in this pullback.

With the faded AI enthusiasm, $NVIDIA Corp(NVDA)$ fell to $420 but still way higher than the surprising earnings beat level. It’s also true for others. Most big techs are trading at a relatively high level.

🌟🌟🌟After the sharp sell off in September, we herald the arrival of October with great trepidation.  October is after all the month of all things scary with Halloween and the Black Monday Crash of 1987.  On that fateful day, the S&P500 fell 20% in just 1 day.

So here we go again.  Will we experience another Black Monday?  Bulls say No but Bears say Yes!  Nobody can be certain as we do not have the crystal ball into the future.

But what I do know is that the stock markets reward those who are patient and it's time in the markets that count, not timing the market.  Buy and hold wonderful companies on sale and simply let the magic of compounding happen.  That's how Warren Buffett became a billionaire and that's what I would do.

So let's welcome October with open arms.  If a Black Monday happens, it is time to be greedy and buy wonderful companies on sale.  Let's be bold and find our winning trades!

it's kinda scary to see portfolio all in red. however, bear market - a good time to go "shopping" for good stocks. it's also a time to look into t-bills etc as they tend to give higher yield. just hoping the bull will catch up and outrun the bear... soon... and then the red will run green [Bless] [Bless] [Bless] what about you guys? come comment and win coins. reposting and tagging [smile] [smile] [smile] @LMSunshine @GoodLife99 @Universe宇宙 @Shyon @Aqa @rL @Zarkness @HelenJanet @DiAngel

We enter the last quarter of 2023! Usually based on history, it is with high probability that Q4 will be the best quarter for stock performance throughout the year. Hope the rally is back and not limited to Christmas rally only. But I am still short term bearish for the market as all the indicators spoil in any way. @GoodLife99 @Aqa @Universe宇宙 @b1uesky @icycrystal @rL @koolgal come and join, sharing is caring.

Now is the good time for dollar cost averaging. 71% of analysts anticipate correction in equity markets by year-end, according to the poll by Reuters.
