I think this investment still has risks as they might increase the Fed interest rate, too, as the inflation is still high.

first ever ETF would be $Nikko AM STI ETF(G3B.SI)$
started out buying only SGX symbols like many locals...
bought after the COVID low and sold after around 1 year...
liquidated all SG stocks... now putting the money into Forex and US options.

whats your first ETF story for those who havent joined?

I guess having a diversity won't hurt. a local stock is easier to predict and hopefuly has a low enough price to collect. while, a global stock has a global room of growth and should be more dynamic in the long term

My first ETF is Vanguard 500 Index Fund ETF (VOO), because it's the safest thing to own according to Warren Buffett. For growth and for income.
"Offers high potential for investment growth; share value rises and falls more sharply than that of funds holding bonds.
More appropriate for long-term goals where your money's growth is essential." EFT for coins @LMSunshine @Fenger1188

🌟🌟🌟My First ETF Investment holds a special place in my heart especially since I am aSingaporean.  It is $STI ETF(ES3.SI)$

STI ETF is the oldest ETF in Singapore, started in 2002. In just 1 trade I gained access to 30 of the largest and strongest companies in Singapore.

The Top 3 holdings are $DBS GROUP HOLDINGS LTD(D05.SI)$ $OVERSEA-CHINESE BANKING CORP(O39.SI)$ and $UNITED OVERSEAS BANK LIMITED(U11.SI)$ which takes up 43% weightage of the ETF followed by blue chip stocks like Singtel, Jardine Matheson, Capitaland Integrated Commercial Trust and many more.

I am currently up 12% on STI ETF compared to $SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust(SPY)$ which is only up 6%.

What I love about STI ETF is that it is low cost compared to investing in individual stocks and it minimises my risk too.  Best of all, I get to collect regular dividends every 6 months.  The current yield is 3.72% yield.   STI ETF is my tactical play on the future of Singapore.  Go Long Go Strong Go STI ETF!

I am holding $STI ETF(ES3.SI)$ having ETF is a good way to minimise risks as it consists of varieties of stocks in a basket. ETF may come in many forms like within the same industry or mixed industries. this way if some companies are not doing well, the other companies performing well will hold the "fortress" to balance the scale. thus ETF is like a "safe haven". that will depend on how transparent the broker is with their fees and charges and also how transparent the one managing the etf on their mgt. fees/charges

SPY for sure since it’s the benchmark to measure the financial health of the US stock market. The average 10% annual growth rate is consistent and a safe investment for most people who are too busy to trade it.

For those who are familiar with options, SPY is also the choice ETF used for trading. A realistic gain of 10% profit per day is doable with proper risk management using options trading strategies.
